Hi
I own a Yamaha CPL 350 clavinova and want to link it up to a Roland MT32 sound module in order to get a wider range of instruments/sounds.
Is this possible?
I've tried using midi cables (in/out...out/in)but without success....Do I also need to connect phono leads etc?
Thanks
Steve

You will need one midi cable. KB midi out to module midi in.
You will also need to connect audio cables from sound module line out to the input of an amplifier. If your keyboard has audio in connectors you can connect the module there.
You should be able to select the voice you want in the module and play another voice from the keyboard at the same time. If you want to play just the voice from the module and none from keyboard, you will need to set 'local control off' in the keyboard.

Joe's instructions are correct. This is how I connect various modules to my CLP-170 (midi out on DP to midi in on module, left and right audio line out on module to left and right audio line in on DP, DP midi configuration "local control off" to disable DP internal sound from being played. No need to purchase an amp and speakers when your DP has them built in!
BTW:
If you'd like to connect a drum machine or audio player for backing tracks, just skip the midi connection and leave local control to on. A lot more fun practicing to rhythms from a drum machine than the monotonous metronome.
