HI! My husband and I were out looking for a piano for Daughter she is 7 and has been playing since she was 4. She practices without a problem. We have a keyboard that does not have weighted keys. We started looking today and we found a nice Roland KR-377PE for $4488.00. Is this too much, is there a comprable out there? or should we really be looking acustic? My husband would like something he can use to do some recording with that had different sounds also.
I'm sooo confused.

You can get a new Yamaha P80 digital or P200 digital with weighted action for $1,000 and $1,300, respectively. Alternatively, you can get a new Yamaha U1 (acoustic) for $6,000. A used Yamaha U1 will cost you about $4,000 (I mention the U1 because that is what I am currently shopping for but I am sure there are other brands in this range as well). I agree with the prior post that you should be looking at acoustics if you are willing to spend more than $4,000 and can get a decent digital for under $2,000.
Felix. :p

As your daughter is so young I guess it's important to buy her an instrument that let her develops a good technique. I don't know if a digital piano is a good instrument for that. IMO, an acoustic piano is better.
Regards.
