I use Sony MDR7506 Professional ($100), and I dont see how they can be beat, for sound and feel. These have a strong reputation for being used in recording studios, and FWIW, Sundays 60 Minutes TV showed Queen Latifah in the studio wearing these. I suspect they use anything they want.

Some AudioTechnica ATH-M20 came bundled free with my P90, and they were dull, and did really strange things to the metronome click.

I use Sennheiser's HD600s; they are wonderful. If you have the opportunity, try them.

I'm quite fond of Grado's headphones, although I don't know what they would be like to use on a digital piano.

AKG K-240 Studio. Great dynamics and very comfortable as well. You will understand why these since 30 years are reference studio headphones in many recording studios.

The AKG 240 headphones were very popular in the past, but are so inefficient that it takes quite a bit of power to get anything out of them. The Sony 7506 headphones have dethroned the AKG in that they're cheap, sound good and don't need tons of power.

Steve, it seems you are referring to the preceding model. The follow-up model, AKG K-240S, has only 55 ohm impedance (compared to 600 ohm for the preceding model).

thanks everyone for great suggestions and information! i definitely will check out those options and see what i will buy. my current one (cheap one) has some distortion on sound, which sounds little different from the piano sound without it.

Didn't know that Fogwall. I run into 7506's most of the time.
