Hi gang...
I'm the new kid on the block and this is my first post. I was wondering if anyone here owns a Roland Digital Piano (KR series). I've owned a KR-7 for a year and I love it. Curious to hear how you like (or dislike) yours.

Welcome Tim.
I have had my KR577 for about a year and a half. It has brought a great deal of enjoyment to me. I hadn't played much piano for about 25 years and it felt great to take it up again.
I don't have much to compare the KR577 with but I like the sound and the feel of the action suits me. I mostly use the grand piano sound but occassionally use some of the other features as well. I use the head phones maybe 20% of the time and put a high value on being able to play when I want without disturbing the whole house. I find the cabinet attractive and more importantly so does my wife which means we can keep it in the living room.
I havn't found anything that I don't like about the KR577. I have developed a desire to try some accoustic pianos. So far I haven't found any accoustic or digitals that I like better than my Roland. Having said that I have not tryed any what may be considered "good" accoustic pianos as the choices are rather limited here where I live.
Glad to hear that you like your KR7.

I own a KR577 as well. No regrets at all, except that it isn't a KR7! I've been selling pianos for well over a decade, and was never as excited about a digital until the KR577 came out. Bought mine the same day it was demonstrated in my store. I just wish it had the ability to put the score on disc as a BMP so that I could print my score like the KR7. What finish did you guys get? Mine's Polished Fruitwood.

Hi Craig S. and Luke's Dad...
I had a KR577 before I traded it in for a KR7. There is quite an improvement, as you know. I love mine. I special ordered it in oak...really beautiful. I actually wanted the KR15, but just could not justify the payments. These pianos are magnificent, but way too expensive! I never even realized one could print out scores from the KR7! Really??? I guess I'd better go back and read the manual! As good as the KR7 sounds, it sounds even better in headphones - especially the Grand Piano. That was a surprise to me.
I recently moved the piano from the living room to a smaller spare bedroom which I am turning into a studio. It sounds fabulous in a small room! I put my Yamaha Tyros right next to it and they are getting along just fine!

When I was shopping for my KR577 I had a choice between the oak and the polished ebony finish. The oak had a beautiful look to it but I took the polished ebony. We have oak floors and a pine ceiling with some pine walls and decided to go with something to contrast with all of the natural wood finish already in the house. My wife and I are both happy with the look.

Tim, when using the digiscore, press the options button on the bottom left of the screen. On the first page at the bottom will be a button marked EXPORT. Press that, it will then give you a copyright message, press continue and it will save the score as a BMP to floppy. Put the disc in your computer, open Word or an equivalent WP program and left click on insert, then left click on From File, then click on A Drive. Then you're all ready to go.

Luke's Dad,
VERY cool. I've had my piano for over a year and did not now it could do this! Amazing...I wonder what other features I have yet to discover. Thanks for the tip.
