Hi!
I'm going to buy a pair of headphones and I'd like some advice.
I'm looking for a type of headphone that covers my hole ear (my ear must be completly inside the headphone; it's more confortable).

I don't know about brands, models, etc.

I'd apreciate any advice.

Thanks!

I was going to jump and say Etymotics, but you say you don't like buds. They are quite simply an amazing audiophile experience (well amplified) and perform excelent in noisey situations, like commuting. They literally reside in the center of those rollable ear plugs you can buy to atenuate db down by 20-30.

Can you be persuaded? The ones you are talking about will be heard by all who are around you, if you push the volume much.

Chris

It kinda depends on your price range. For example I have a pair of Sennheiser HD-570's that I'm fairly happy with (they're very comfortable).

A few other brands to consider:
Grado (supossedly great sound for the price, but a bit uncomfortable)
Sony (the MDR7506 I think)
AKG (AKG???)
Fostex
I few others I can't seem to recall at the moment

One of the things you'll want to consider is wether to get "open" or "closed" headphones...don't let the classifications fool you they can both cover the entire ear (as you indicated that you want). Closed headphones are just designed to block out some of the "outside noise", while open headphones don't typically put as much pressure around your ears.

Sennheiser. Go to http://www.sennheiserusa.com select Shop and check the special deals section. They frequently have refurbs and discontinued models at good (but not always killer) prices.

Also check http://www.headphone.com for some good reviews and comparisons, and some excellent prices.

I will also add you can check www.headfi.org . Sennheiser makes two open headphones that get raves. The HD-580 and HD-600. The 580's are cheaper and negligably different.

If your use is at the keyboard, the cream of the crop may be overkill.
