Hi,

I've been using my Yamaha P-200 for a couple of years, generally its been a pretty good instrument, but as I'm gigging a lot these days I'm looking to get something lighter, e.g no speakers (to save on my chiropractor bills!).

Any recommendations? Important things - piano (obviously) and rhodes/wurlitzer type sounds, pitch bend.

Thanks!

You sound like me!I sold my P200 a year ago & bought the P-120 for the same reason... Too heavy & a lousy gigger. I LOVE my P-120. It's sturdy, light weight (40lbs), attractive, & sounds great. Don't care much for the onboard speakers though. Bring a set of good headphones when you play it. Crank up the soundboard resonance parameter & you here it ring! That's a beautiful thing. The sound is a huge step up from the P-200. You may also check out the Kawai ESX. It's the 88 key portable silver keyboard, around a grand ($). Great sound too & similar action. You'll love them both, check 'em out!

Too bad Yamaha doesn't make something like that with pitchbend... oh! Of course - the S-90[/b]. The action is faster than the P-120 and P-200, but if that's okay, and you love Yamaha - you'll love the S-90.

Else - Roland RD-700. Sweet board, if you don't mind the Roland joystick. (even cheapo Edirol joysticks have better mod!) Oh, and I hear the piano doesn't cut that well in a live mix, but I've never heard it mixed myself.

One of my tested RD-700 has developed a rather noisy (rattly) action.
This may also occur with other brands.
Please check your favorite model before your buy it.

Kind regards

wouldn't it be cool if one of the manufacturers would come out with a digital piano that could be folded into the size of an attache case and weigh about as much? both the p200 and the rd700 are great but they are such a drag to carry around. does anyone out ther know of a lighter and more portable piano with great sound and touch?
