Hello, Im looking at getting the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-115 but I cant seem to find a decent online store to give me accurate quotes on the price.

Dont give me the "32 polyphony isnt enough" cause I dont belive you one bit. My church got a CLP-120 a couple months ago and it did well in 2 diffrent preformances, both were rather quick pieces using the harpsicord and grand piano voice. I like the Clavinova's look and sound, and I dont want to have to pay more than I have too. Dont tell me to get a keyboard either cause I dont want to go that route either. A price estimate on this thing would be nice.

Just a point of information - According to the Yamaha website, the CLP-120 has 64-note polyphony, the CLP-115 has 32-note polyphony.

32-voice polyphony isn't enough

It's nearly impossible to get price quotes on clavinova's over the phone or on the internet, and Yamaha and the dealers like it that way; the dealers charge whatever they can get away with.

If you really need the wooden cabinet style piano, why not look at the yamaha ydp223 ($1500 at music123.com), which I have heard on this board (or maybe harmnony-central.com) is identical to one of the clavinovas, but it probably costs 1/2 the price and is sold on the internet and at general purpose music stores like guitar center.

Also, the ydp223 has 64 note polyphony (which, as you say, you probably don't need, but the polyphony police will surely disagree).

And if you don't need the wood cabinet, save even more money or get even better features by looking at the p120 or p250 stage pianos.

The YDP223 is well out of my price range, I want to spend less than a $1000, wich could wind up hard to do. Im talking to our church music director tonight (special church thing) about the Clavinova.

I want something that will have a feel like a real piano. Clavinova's have that.

I would prefer to have a yamaha but I could go for another if it means paying less.

I should give you some idea of what exactly I want. I want something introductory, Im not much of a player but my learning has been hampered because I do not know anyone who has a piano nor do I have one of my own. I can only practice/learn once a week, when Im at church, and soon Im gonna loose that because Im should be getting in the chior soon. Now I dont want a ton of voices, just one would suffice, I need something that feels like a piano, and all 88 keys, and at least the damper pedal and the sustonuato *sp* pedals. The soft pedal isnt needed with a digital piano.

The YDP-113 looks pretty nice for what I want to do.

Unfortunately, you are not going to get a Clavinova for under $1000 no matter how hard you look. If you really like Yamahas, I would suggest a P-60.

check out Yamaha here. for little bit more you can get a P120, or P90 without speakers.

I have a CLP115 and it's been great, I've even gigged with it!
