Need advice: used Technics PX201?

I've been thinking about buying a digital piano because I don't have ready access to a real piano (nor can I afford to get my own). I was wondering what are your opinions on a used Technics PX201 for $600. It seems Technics pianos aren't much talked about. Is that a decent piano? And the price? I'm totally clueless about values of used digitals. Please give me some advice. Thanks so much!

I thought I heard a few months back that Technics weren't being made any longer. . .
Maybe it was a rumor.

Glad someone could confirm. Panasonic still has Technics on their website. Maybe remaining stock.

IN all honesty, I never played a technics that I liked much. Most of them had noisey action which I could not tolerate.
If your budget is $600, have you considered something portable with 88 keys. . .take for example the Yamaha P60. This is in your price range, but is a portable model. . .which means you need a stand and it only comes with one pedal (sustain) so it does not have the cabinet that this technics has.

To me they always sounded/played like a badly-made copy of Roland.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately the person who was selling it decided last minute not to. Guess I gotta head back to piano stores.

What are your desires in the digital piano you are looking to by?
Do you need the cabinet? Do you need all three pedals? These are some of the questions you can ask yourself. There are digital pianos that are just above your price range that are excellent instrument for the $. If you need the cabinet and 2 pedals, you will have to up your budget if you want to buy new. Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi everyone, so I've finally gotten over my embarrassment (I haven't played for 3 yrs...go figure) and walked into some nearby piano stores. Tried the Roland HP1 and HP2 and several Yamahas, including the famous P120. I really fell in love with the Yamaha YDP223, and a local store is offering me $1450 out the door. Is that a good price? Would it be too much to ask if I try to get a free pair of headphones with that offer? (I really don't know how to negotiate prices... :p ) The other model I kinda want to try out is the Roland MP60, but I haven't been able to find it in any stores yet. The HP1 keys were way too light. The HP2 felt good, but the sound was rather muffled.(and it was way over my budget) Anyways, so you've probably noticed I've increased my budget quite a bit. Originally I was looking for something under $1000, but I just don't see used digital pianos that often, and don't think I could get a decent new one for that price. (I know for practical purposes, the piano-like stand and 3 pedals are not that important, but I'd still prefer to have them.) Hopefully I can hit a few more stores this week and come up with a decision soon. I'm getting really hyped about this!!! Will be back with more posts. Thanks again for all the suggestions!

I'm not going to start preaching about the P120 - but did you really prefer the YDP223? The YDP223 is the same as a CLP120. The P120 is the same as a CLP130, with a 3-layer dynamic piano sound among other benefits. If its a question of budget however the YDP223 may be a better option as it has a decent speaker system built in, and includes a bench, stand, and 3 pedals.
