I was wondering how can I listen to samples of Roland, yamaha, and casio digital pianos? I went onto their websites and I can't seem to find anything.

I went on to www.kawai.co.uk and the first one I looked at had an audio demo. It was the mp8 and I thought it sounded amazing. I want to compare it to others though first.

usa and europe sites of Yamaha has samples of all their pianos. privia-instruments.com has samples of all Privias. But Roland will be a problem because they don't have sound examples for all their pianos only for most expensive models in each series. Check the rolandus.com and roland.com

Well I went to yamaha.com and uk sites, and also visited roland.com and roland uk. The reason I made this topic is because I only saw audio samples on the kawai website. It also gave details about how heavy each keyboard was...something you will need to know.

More and more I am tempted to get this MP8 but I still havent actually played on it, and there is also the amount of people raving on about the Roland RD-700SX(which I have played for about 2 hours in the shop and wasn't overly impressed with), and the Roland RD-300SX (which was dire).

If you want to hear the Yamaha P250 samples go here and click Media Clips

instead of yamaha.com, try yamahasynth.com. They have a good amount of samples.

Also for a comparison of some models using the same song try purgatorycreek.com

I never looked into Rolands before. So I followed the link and listened and watched everything there on the RDsx page.
The piano sounds so sweet and musical! Truly enjoyable. Indeed superior. Yes, it is good, but still, not as full and realistic as the competitors. The sound is clean and clear like Yamahas (as apposed to Kawai) and the tone is more colorful then even the Kawais.

The other sounds are a different story, and to my opinion lack any sense of realism. The clavinet is a toy, and so are the vibes. I hate the harpsichord, Rhodes are nothing like Yamaha, and the strings are pure garbage. Maybe they are good for electronic music, or for kids to play with. but I can’t imagine hearing these sounds on a professional production. (to be fair, the organs are not bad).

I think it’s an insult to the s90ES to even just try to compare the two.

By the way, I would not recommend the Roland stand on the first demonstrations for a digital piano or any weighted keyboard. You can notice it on the video bouncing up and down under the pressure of forceful piano style playing.

Excuse me for being so critical. Feel free to whip me back if you disagree.

Following link is for people to hear RD-300SX from an external source other than the Roland. Because of the fact that RD-700SX has same piano sound in addition to arguably better one, people can use this for evaluation of it too.

Complete Review:

(I don't think you can read this unless you're from Poland but at least you can hear the mp3s.)

i just found it and wanted to share.

If I sat in a shop and played the rd-300sx and rd-700sx through a kc-350amp (and wasnt impressed with the sound) how am i going to like it through a computer speaker?

I didn't send that link to convince you, i don't have any intention to do that. It is just for people looking for extra RD-300SX mp3s to listen when comparing it to other models. Because it fits well in to the subject of the post. (where to find piano samples)

This site doesn't necessarily have sound samples, but it is great since it shows video movies of 10 minutes are so of the respective Yamaha instrument in use.

nezkeys, unless you are planning to gig with it, I would stay away from "keyboard" amps. They don't sound nearly as good as "studio monitor" which can play in STEREO.

The best way to determine how good it sounds is by using a decent pair of headphones ($50+).

Yiss, I wrote that answer to nezkeys79, not to you smile Because he said:

what do you mean by a monitor? I will be gigging with it. At the moment it's a pain in the backside to midi 2 keyboards 2 keyboards (sl-880 and korg triton) and the kc-300 amp, JUST FOR A PIANO SOUND!

Because none of the stage pianos really sound good I am thinking of getting a module with just piano sounds....kurzweill micropiano KMP1?

The best sound I have heard is p-120 through an edifier speaker system. It was a tiny speaker system so would be hassle free on a gig.

You need 2 KC300 amps for a decent piano sound, because of the stereo sampling. Playing a modern stage piano like the RD700SX through the Roland stereo-link feature of their high end speakers produces an excellent sound.

Even using unbalanced amps, say your Roland on the Left side with a smaller guitar amp on the right side, produces a better piano effect than using your single KC 300.

Other alternatives include a pair of active monitors speakers like the Mackie SRMs, the Yamaha StagePas 300 system, or even an old fashioned PA system.

Separate the stereo outputs, and your digital pianos will sound great.

Yeah that sounds like how they setup the rd-700sx in the shop...2 kc-350s. It sounded synthetic. It was no better than my triton 'acoustic piano sound'.

so youre saying i need to buy another amp?

whats the kurzweil micropiano like?
