Hello, I am looking to purchase the Yamaha P120 this coming weekend. I haven't seen it in person, so I am wondering if any of y'all have opinions of which color looks better in person? The Mahogany or Silver? Thanks.

Mahogany looks better for 'pro' work, Silver looks better in a modern home.

Perhaps on the other side of the pond it does. But in the US, it looks like a home keyboard (which is really what the P120 is anyway).

Well, I own the Yamaha P-120. I know every function, sound, and feature the P-120 has. Believe me SteveY, I know what I am talking about.

First of all, I don't believe that you know what you're talking about. I think we've established that you in fact, don't know every feature the P120 has. But my question was asking how you would know what a professional keyboard would look like? Are you a professional? Do you make your living through music?

SteveY,

Honestly, I don't feel like making enemies. We both have our own preferences, so we have different tastes.

I do know every feature that the P-120 has, and I know what a professional piano looks like. Different tastes for different people.

No harm intended. \:\)

I would buy Mahogany one... Because it looks more classic comparing silver one. Otherwise they would have produced P250 in silver...

I don't think u need such justification for an opinion on whether something looks 'pro', Steve! Surely anyone can have an opinion on that?

Woah Guys!

Everyone chill!!!!

Different strokes for different folks right??

Just gonna throw in that if anyone wants to see a truly professional looking keyboard, go look at what you gig or record with...

To each of us, that's our version of what we would define as "professional"

And if you don't currently gig or record with a keyboard, go look at a Roland RD-700SX and see some truly pro looking gear \:D :p \:D

Just kiddin... :p

Absolutely. And I hope you realize, Cobs, that my comments to you were meant in jest. P120Dude, P120Man, JazzP120, or whatever he is calling himself these days is another story. This guy spreads misinformation around the forum under the guise of being helpful. THAT I have a problem with.

SteveY,

I have not spread ANY misinformation around the forum these days, and you know it. You need to get in check with reality and move on from the past.

Goodnight,
Chris

Did I read that correctly? P120Dude is asking someone else to get in check with reality?

I looked at both, side by side, and chose the silver with the matching stand. I thought the black and dark wood looked cheesier than the silver. Yamaha makes the silver ones better. It's true, I read it on the internet.

Now, you kiddies can go back to fighting...

It doesn't really matter if you "look" like a pro, it only matters if you "sound" like one. (smile)

My grandfather, champion cyclist in Ireland holding an undefeated title to this day...(so the story goes) was cycling in a race and got a flat tire..(there were no chase vehicles back in the day). A young man on the sidelines offered his pedestrian bicycle and my grandfather grabbed it... and won the race. The bike wasn't of professional quality...but the rider was.

Ancient Irish Tale,
Charmaine

PS: There is so much passion on this thread, me thinks there must be an Irishman among you. (wink)

Is this a true story? If so, remarkable!

BTW, I don't prefer either finish of the P120. It is a decent instrument though!
