Does anyone know if the Roland F-50 is a new model or discontinued? It's "featured" on the Roland website, but it doesn't show up on their comparison charts. When I called several local dealers, they had never heard of that model. Then I found one that had it as a "close out" at a deeply-discounted price. It was side-by-side an MP-60. The MP-60 sounded much better (and was much more money). Do you think it was just the speakers, or different samples?

Dunno, you should know that I've never seen either, but the Roland site only just recently put their user manuals online for only the current models, and the F-50 manual is there, so it must be pretty current. A seach on Google shows it available at all the normal online dealers, so it must still be current.

This site has a brief model comparison
http://www.musiciansbuy.com/Digital_Piano_comparsion.html

showing only $200 difference ($1200 vs $1400) which may all be in the larger wooden stand? They also reached a different sound comparison result, but different larger external speakers certainly do affect the sound. All these portables need larger external speakers.

We just picked up the Roland F-50 for $900, with a bench included. I'll let you all know how it sounds. P.S. I found a press release on the Roland website indicating that it was introduced in January 2004.
