#701248 - 09/07/08 06:11 PM Why is the Yamaha CP 300 a "special order only" instrument?

I'd just about decided to buy a Yamaha CP 300 when I discovered that none of the sellers in the region (including Salt Lake City) carry the CP300. They will only special order it for customers. Does this mean they are unpopular? Or, perhaps, they are too expensive to carry in regular stock considering the investment the store would have to make in keeping them in stock. The special order only includes two Guitar Centers in my region and several local stores. I hate to buy something that I cannot try first.

Opinions would be helpful.

Hmmm...that's strange.

The CP300 is one keyboard that all the GCs & SAs in LA all stock consistently. If you would have said maybe the Kurzweil PC3X or the Nord Stage I wouldn't have been surprised but the Yamaha??

Sorry I can't guess why they are not carrying them....it must be they are not in demand out there in that area.

I love mine...I've had it maybe 8 weeks. I don't use it on every gig because of size/weight consideration but when I have, it plays and sounds great.

You should definitely play it yourself before purchasing. These DPs are so personal. What might be great for one guy won't work for someone else.

Worst case...you could buy from an online store...Sweetwater, Music 123, etc. If you ended up hating it you could send it back and just be out the $75 or whatever shipping back.

I think the CP300 and the Roland RD 700GX are the two best ones out there right now.
I had the Roland for 2 weeks and ending up exchanging for the Yamaha...personal preference but they're both great.

Good luck with it.

you may try CP33 instead, since both CP33 and CP300 came out at the same time, but buy CP300 either online or from the store.
