Hi, I'm new here. I just want to say Thanks to all the members in this forum for this forum has helped me greatly in my research for a good digital piano.
I just got my CLP 240 today and I am very happy with it after playing non stop for the past 3 hours. The sound and feel is so much better than my old Petrof. The headset is really a great plus as I'm staying at an apartment and I can play silently without disturbing my neighbors. :p
I have tried Privia 800 but I went for the Yamaha Clavinova coz I think that it is the closest resemblance to a real piano and I like its cabinet design.
Thanks again everyone.

why i am not surprised? CLP230 is a very nice piano and CLP240 should be even better. I tried CLP230 and i liked that a lot, but decided against it because of the cost factor (CLP 230 would cost 1400 euros incl. shipment).
btw, CONGRATULATIONS on your new piano.

Sherly, the CLP-240 is indeed a VERY good piano. Great touch and feel and superb sound samples. Here in Belgium (Europe) digital piano's are rather expensive, i payed it 1999€ (about 2880$), but it's worth every Euro. For me the extra realism features like dynamic 3 layer soundsampling, key off samples, dynamic damperpedal effect and the USB to Device feature, were worth the extra price compared to the CLP-230, although the CLP-230 is already a fine instrument. With my headphones on i forget the time and the world around me for hours! Congratulations and enjoy!

Congratulations on the new 240. In addition to being a good looker and features Copilot mentions, it has great touch/action.
It's one of the things I was looking for in a DP. I wound up with a 280 which the same keyboard, pretty much. ...And I'm really pleased with it.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your new piano.
OBTW ... Welcome to the Forum!

I too have CLP240 and love it but have not managed to save anything via the USb port. Have read and reread the manuals but to no avail. Would appreciate a little advice from anyone. johnrlowry@mynow.co.uk

Would appreciate a little advice from anyone. johnrlowry@mynow.co.uk [/b] Try the following suggestions: 1) Usually, manufacturers (i.e. Yamaha, Roland, Casio etc.) would provide some sort of USB drivers in the accompanying CD that comes with the DP. Try installing these first. Then try connecting your DP to your PC and try saving files. 2) Have you checked it the USB port of the CLP 240 is used for MIDI exclusively or for BOTH USB-MIDI (data signal send/receive) and save file function (SMF or yamaha-recorded proprietary file format)? It might be possible that the USB port maybe specifically used only for MIDI-USB implemenation and not for saving file. Or, it may be used for both but need to modify the settings of your DP, if there's any. 3) Is your USB drive capacity supported? (i.e. 128MB/256MB...1GB or 2GB). Majority of DP manufacturers would set a limit as to the smallest capacity and highest capacity of USB flash drives that can be used with their models. It might be that you're using a capacity which is not supported by the DP. 4) Try changing the brand of your USB flash drive. It might be that the DP is a bit "picky" or choosy in the type of USB flash drive that it uses. This is still a possibility though. If all else fails, then it's time to have the USB-port or even the unit checked by a technician. Hope these suggestions help.
