Hello! I'm new to this forum. You have a great message board here! I'm interested in returning to the piano after a 15 years hiatus. Previously played classical at an intermediate level. Would like an acoustic grand within 5-10 yrs but with my level of playing right now I don't think I would be able to make a good decision. I wanted something I could practice on to get to my previous level or better before making a big purchase. Anyway, I thought a digital would be a better fit for my situation. I narrowed things down to the Roland HP2 which I guess is being discontinued and the HP 103 which I've been told is the equivalent. Both were very nice, but I wasn't comfortable with the touch.
I preferred the Clavinovas and tried the CLP 130/150/170 line. I didn't notice much difference between the 130/150 with regards to tone/touch. The 170 has a marked difference in both that I think may be worth the extra $500.
My local dealer is asking $3000 for the 170 in rosewood including bench, delivery. This seems in line with what I've read on the forum for a base price but these prices were from 2002-2003. Does anyone know if this line is going to the discontinued in the near future and if it may be better to wait before making an offer? Does anyone have any other suggestions as to other digitals to consider?
