We have one of these organ/synths at our school. It sits unused, and one of the staff would like to have it at home to practice. Any clue what it is worth? Two keyboards, full pedals w/bench. It looks like this: http://www.xs4all.nl/~wkoopman/electone/details/chx-1.htm thanks!

You are not going to like my answer; however, these old electronic organs, with the exception of the Hammond B-3, are not worth much if anything. A classically trained organist won't want it and a amatuer can get a digital keyboard that will make just as good a sound for less money. It also won't be as hard to move around.

Yea my thoughts too. I've only been playing organ for 3 years and I wouldn't want an organ like that. An organ as such would be good for playing at a ball park i'd say. I wouldn't expect very much from it.

Dear Ron___ I regret the negative responses as shown above. I am liturgical organist since 1957. This instrument was a wonderful addition to the fleet of Japan Yamahaź with cabinet. I am seeking an HX-1 but after acquiring have to have cabinet built. Church would not approve the nightclub style writing on back of HX. If you have not sold the CHX Please supply minimum price, your exact location in proximity to Jacksonville, Florida. I have two churches who would like to replace Hammond if they can afford it. J. R. Hi,
I just traded a Yamaha CHX-1 organ for a mew Allen theatre organ. I got $3000 trade-in allowance. I was going to sell it privately, but decided I didn't want the hassle. I put an ad in the Theatre Organ website and got 2 responses offering $5000. The instrument was top-of-the-line back when I bought it new in 1987. It still offers a lot of good sounds and is programmable with new sounds. There's a lot of life left in these instruments and they should be able to be sold to someone who wants an excellent instrument at a bargain price. If you really want to sell it, try Theatre Organ magazine or their website.
Good luck,
MLS
