This is unbelievable. Please read as this is no joke and sign the petition against the proposal to ban organ pipes because they're made with lead.

Yes, organ pipes are made from lead, tin, and other trace elements.

The fact that the lawmakers seem to ignore is that it is not typical for organ pipes to end up in a landfill - they almost always get re-used in another organ or are melted down for recasting. Pipes manufactured in the 1500's are still in use today!

You're much more likely to have a close encounter with a lead pipe from drinking tap water, than you ever would from an organ pipe.

At first, electronic organ manufacturers were thrilled by this - they could make a killing off of the demise of the pipe organ. But now it appears that their products are even more suspect. They contain lots of high-tech toxic byproducts, and like any other disposable mass-produced computer item they are much more likely to end up in a landfill.
