Bassist Junior Member Registered: 05/09/06 Posts: 1 Loc: Virginia	Hello, I'm new here. Actually I'm a bassist (sorry). My wife wants to take up piano. An accquaintance has offered to sell her a Yamaha CLP 840 in excellent condition for $500. I have 2 questions. Is this a good keyboard for a beginner to start on? Is the price fair? It was introduced in 1998 and fell right in the "middle" of Yamaha's CLP Clavinove model line-up. It would be an equivalent of today's new CLP model 240 (sugg. retail of $3195). So, I would encourage you to buy this as an interim instrument and then consider your acoustic alternatives. Yes, it is a very fair price. Paul _________________________ Retired Industry Professional
