What about the inverse - where somebody didn't leave the building on time, because they were held back by one of those "annoying little things"? I'm afraid it works both ways, with God being nothing more than a random number generator.

Well, religious issues notwithstanding, I think the general theme is reasonable. Basically that one should look at the positive side of things, even if they seem negative at first blush (oh great, now I have the Monty Python song, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" stuck in my head).

You got that right, bitWrangler. It is a lot easier to destroy something than it is to build something. A positive attitude takes a lot more work; a negative attitude is just plain lazy.
