It looks very beautiful from the pictures. Those of you here from New York can you give us a first-hand report?

I saw the light on television just after they were lit on CNN. It is a beautiful sight to see. The beams shoot something like a mile into the sky before they become invisible to the naked eye. I would love to see what they look like from a satelites point of view.

My first hand observations began on Sunday evening. After the 9/11 special I went into the bathroom and just happened to glance out the window which faces south west just at the time when they were testing. From this vantage point, the lights are eerie because they shoot up from behind the buildings across the back yard from my apartment. It looks like we're trying to contact aliens.

I haven't yet seen them from a different angle, it maybe different then.

I'm glad it's not a permanent installation. I think it would be absolutely super if they could somehow stop the light beams at the exact height of the old towers so that we would really see two images of the old towers in light, THAT would be really nice. Anyway, it's a good idea for a temporary memorial.

I saw the lights from a different angle last night--from the corner of my block. Actually, they're pretty good when seen with a minimum of obstruction--they have a good effect this way. So, my bottom line is--good from some vantage points, less than ideal from others.
