Ack! Two Attici! Hard to say who the culprit of the image hijack was, but typically, upload access to a server is limited to those with permissions. My first instinct would be to consider the owner of the site. A quick whois lookup identifies the owner of sorabji.com as one Mark Thomas of NYC (which is also clearly stated on most of the pages at sorabji.com).

Ah. I guess it wasn't uploaded onto the pianoforum website? The owner of THAT servier switched the pics? Maybe he switches them every day, like a calander, and so we all of the sudden got tomorrow's picture. And he has no idea they're being linked to here? Zowies. Jodi

It's just painful to sit back and watch such a PC, uninformed, trying-to-be-nice bunch of people talk about one thing, as if they were discussing it intellectually, when they are all on the same side. I'm not saying they are bad people or that I dont respect their opinion, its more that I see that they aren't seeing the whole picture. Perhaps I shouldn't have even peaked over there! Thanks anyway Matt, we'll see if I'm bored enough at work tomorrow to venture onto the Death Star.

[/b] No crusade, but when they all claim to be having such a good discussion about it, when in fact they aren't really discussing anything at all except how they agree with each other; that's pretty uninformed. It's like if we had a 3 page thread in here about what is the best soda, and everyone is like: "I like coke!" "I like coke, too!" "Well I think the best one is coke." "Personally, I think Coca-Cola is the best." "Go coke!" "Anyone who likes Pepsi is stupid, I like Coke." That just simply doesn't cut it in my book. I dont know, I guess the main point behind it is just how "accepting" everyone is now-a-days. Maybe I'm alone with that thought, but it doesn't mean I'm going to change my opinion.

A little investigation reveals: The picture on www.sorabji.com has not been changed. Navigating a browser directly there displays the original picture of Sorabji (bad hair and all). BUT, whenever one attempts to LINK to the picture externally, one is redirected to somewhere else. Clever.

Yes, And I have twice attempted to post that link and that observation, (because when you plug the URL into a browser, the original photo comes up) but when I write the URL out into a post like this one (I won't do it), you get the other photo. How did they DO that? Jodi

In answer to your question, yes stay out of there.
Honestly, IMHO, it does not seem your "only motive is to give them a different perspective". In your heart of hearts, what are you really trying to accomplish? What do you think will happen if you go over there?
If it's too painful for you, then don't read it.

Sorry folks! I'm certain you know I didn't do that!.... I mean gee whiz..... if that was all I had, I sure wouldn't go putting up pictures of it..... I removed the link so there's no picture at all now. I assume the guy from the other board where I copied the image didn't like having his picture put up over here..... classy group.... guy might as well give up and be a monk...... UPDATE: No - the guy who posted it on the other forum didn't change it! The porno picture is up on the other forum!! It's in the "Introduction" thread......

Larry, I only meant calling him a deluded "turkey" figuratively. I never thought he was one. My oh my, what next?
Does this mean that innately I have a similar talent as Jack Frost- who, it is said, can smell out a sock(puppet)- but didn't know it until this very day?

The picture is still up over in the other forum. Man, is old Ludwig Van Rachabji (the screen name of the fellow who posted the original picture) going to be surprised when someone finds it in a week or two.....

89th: It's just painful to sit back and watch such a PC, uninformed, trying-to-be-nice bunch of people talk about one thing, as if they were discussing it intellectually, when they are all on the same side. Note to self: do not invite 89th to a dinner party. 89th, the problem here is that you assume that there is something wrong with people discussing something on which they happen to agree. If someone were to come here for the sole purpose of saying pianos suck, no one would appreciate it. Most of us share a love for pianos, and we would have no interest in being heckled. We have a word for that -- "troll." And I would gently suggest that you not engage in any further discussion of sexual orientation -- there, here or anywhere else -- until you learn the proper terminology for things. I think you have some work to do there if you think anyone would appreciate being labeled a "homophile." If you were my son, I would further suggest that you just *listen* to the thread and observe the way mature, thoughtful people interact and see if maybe you could perhaps learn something? Remember, you did ask . . .

I'm more than ticked over this being that I rather like Sorabji's piano music. It's a bit like Busoni on LSD.

I reported the post in the other forum. I'm sure they don't want that crap posted any more than we do. As for having 89th come to dinner, he's welcome anytime ONLY IF he brings his girlfriend!! (Oh and 89, you might have to go home early... )

Oh and one more piece of advice for you 89. Right now, I'm betting quite a few people in the other forum are kinda worried about the Piano World people that have shown up. Especially since the porn got posted on their site as well as Franks. That means that even if you did try to engage in a civil debate, you might well start off painted with a tar brush and never get even the most tolerant people there to listen. All in all, the timing sux for you to post in that particular thread and you really should just pass on it this time. Dan P.S. I figured since everyone seems to have forgiven me for my earlier "rudeness", I should give it another go...

Let's not forget however, that the porn link originated over there - I just linked to it. that picture would be there whether I copied it over here or not.

Originally posted by The 89th Key: BUT, the ever fun thread about homosexuality is present there, and everyone is so "happy" to have "such a civil discussion", and wow things are "so nice" there...THATS BECAUSE THEY ALL AGREE!!! so the questions is: Should I enter the dark side or should I stay out of it? [/b] So there is this other forum with pages and pages of threads and posts about piano technique, composers, recordings, advice, and so on. You, for some reason, are thinking about going there for the sole purpose of posting to one innocuous thread about homosexuality. Come to think of it, you have over 1200 posts here in the couple months you've been here, and I'll bet 30-40% are on the topic of homosexuality. So, why the fixation? Don't mean to bring up the "L" word - no I don't mean "liberal" - but your constant harping about homosexuality and gay marriage could lead people to certain conclusions. Not saying I'm of that opinion, but you sure leave yourself open to that impression here, and you most certainly would there if you suddenly showed up and started posting your usual one-note-jonnies in that thread. Oh right, you just want to add your informed opinion to the silly little discussion over there. Trust me, they've heard it all before.
