I probably follow less than that. There seem to be more political threads here than piano threads.

The coffe forum was created as a place for non-piano discussions because the piano forum kept getting away from pianos.

I've set up a cron utility to log on and auto search for keywords like gay, homosexual, rump-ranger, rectal-rooter, etc. Then I follow those.

Another very hateful christian.

I won't report your verbal gaybashing to Frank.

You do too much for my cause.

"...If [GLAAD] were really concerned about inconsistency, the way to remove the inconsistency is to say, "Yes, we fully support people's right to own guns and we support the right of gays to marry. We don't want to take away rights from anybody and neither should the administration." Did GLAAD breathe a word of that? Not a peep."

I tend to check out most threads that have a point to them, so I pass on most "Here's a brain-dead political article I read" stuff.

I tend to bail out of threads at the first hint of namecalling or disrespectful behavior. Like the pointless and meanspirited slur above.

There are many political threads here in the CR. If I had a better understanding of U.S. politics & history, I'd understand & follow these threads more closely. It seems Americans are quite enthusiastic with their ideology (even b/t elections); I wish Canadians were similarly more verbal at times.....

I follow a lot less of them than I get mentioned in -- or asked a question in.

I would say on any given day I check out no more than 1/2 doz of those that come up on the screen when i click on the Coffee Room. Although there are many days I log on and log right off after I see the topics, without checking any. And then there are days I don't log on at all.

I'll check anywhere from 4-8 per day.

I try to avoid political threads; I find them a bit boring. I only visit topics that sound like fun. I'll probably grow out of it.

As for percentage: 40% (though I don't post on all of them)
Reason: Too many political topics

Maybe a quarter of them, at most. I'm sure I miss good conversations, but I just don't have the time to read them all.

The thread has to sound interesting, funny, or at least strange - in other words, it has to have a good "hook." I'll check out maybe a third of the political threads, and post in maybe half of those. Even if a thread has a name that doesn't sound interesting to me, I'll probably at least glance in on it if it runs to 5 pages or more, even if I don't contribute to it.

It usually depends on the subject matter. I don't read many political threads.
