Since some people like to keep tossing out all the people who are protesting the war as a way to support their claim that most people are against it, I thought I'd print out a partial list of the coming pro-America/support the soldiers rallies coming up. Remember - these people aren't being funded by the Stalinist Workers World Party, nor are they being funded by Saddam Hussein like the "peace marches" are, nor are they paid professional protesters like many of the "peace activists" are. These are just good Americans. And while the "peace activists" like to resort to destroying property and starting fights, I'll bet every one of these are peaceful and polite.

Salon.com, a very leftwing website, in a recent article acknowledged that the radical left had been overwhelmed by the pro-US group that turned out to meet them. Quote “

Peace goes mainstream[/b]
In frigid conditions, thousands -- from 30,000 to 200,000, depending on the source -- show up in Washington, and Middle America outnumbers the radical fringe.

Jan. 20, 2003 | WASHINGTON -- American flags outnumbered Palestinian and Iraqi ones at Saturday's antiwar march in Washington. Though the enormous protest was called by ANSWER, a front group for the Stalinist Workers World Party, the National Mall next to the Capitol building was flooded by ordinary, outraged citizens. They completely overwhelmed the Spartacus Leaguers, the Maoists and other assorted wackos who turn out to support anything opposed to the U.S. government.
(yes, a left wing group referred to them as “whackos”……..)

The wallpaper on my computer now is a picture of a woman protestor that was hit in the neck with one of the wooden bullets. They make one hell of a welt don’t they.

Beautiful picture!!!!

The one with the huge softball on the side of her chin? I thought about posting that here, but didn't want to appear trollish. But since you've already mentioned it:

Not a pretty picture! \:\(

If a baseball can hit a child in the chest killing the child, certainly one of those bullets could have ruptured her juglar.

I'm hoping she won't stand in the way of dockworkers trying to load food and supplies for our troops and food and medicine for Iraqi relief next time. You have the right of assembly and peaceful protest. You do not have the right to do what they were doing.

Totally agreed, assuming they were doing something wrong. Just pointing out that seeing a picture of someone hurt in this manner isn't exactly a laughing matter to gloat over or prove a point.

As an aside, I do pray for the safety of your son and am one very grateful American for his contribution. I too have a son in the Navy Reserves who could very well be called up to serve.

They were blocking a major port, a military base, and a freeway. They were asked 8 separate times to move. They were throwing rocks and steel bolts at police. They were trying to prevent supplies from reaching our troops.

I have watched video footage of many of the "protests" from around the country. In many cases the police exercised way more restraint than they should have, or needed to. I saw punk kids destroying police cars, throwing objects, etc. I am not going to shed a tear or care one whit about a protestor who gets beaned by non-lethal munitions while our boys are dodging real rounds.

In that case, it was NOT a peaceful lawful demonstration. The police absolutely did have a right to protect themselves. They should consider themselves fortunate that the police used rubber bullets. I had not read or did not see reports on this incident so I didn't know the circumstances.

Oh, by the way, if these were the same protestors who were in San Francisco the last couple of weeks, they're not throwing the bolts, they're shooting them with wrist rocket slingshots. A SF cop is out on disability and they're not sure he'll regain sight in one of his eyes from getting hit with a bolt from a slingshot two weeks ago.

Here's some quotes from todays NY Post article about them:

Cyprus Gonzalez, 19, of Oakland, who was struck during the port melee, made his and his anti-war collaborators' intentions clear: "It's direct. Here, we're actually trying to shut the place down for a day"

"I've never seen this level of violence in response to a community picket," complained David Solnit, a "veteran of two decades of civil disobedience" who helped coordinate Monday's blockade through an outfit called Direct Action to Stop the War.

Two decades of protest? Don't these people have jobs? These are anarchists![/b]

Just in case anyone missed it, in my first post I mentioned that these supposed "peace protesters" are funded by the Stalinist Workers World Party, with the money coming directly from Saddam Hussein. Many are paid professional protesters, such as this fellow with 2 decades of experience.

Sad when you think of the people who think they prove something, and then blindly side with them. They are what Stalin used to refer to as "useful idiots".

Hi folks - I'm checking in from the liberal Bay Area. Our Bay Area police have been professional and restrained, allowing peaceful protesters to exercise their First Amendment rights, while doing their best to control the small wacko minority of protesters who are intent on violence and destruction. The wackos show up and do their stunts no matter what the issue of the day is.

Despite the Bay Area's well-deserved reputation for liberal, even lefty, politics, polls here show two-thirds of our residents support the war for the liberation of Iraq. Support is especially strong in working class and immigrant communities, especially among immigrants who have suffered under dictatorial regimes in their countries of origin. They know both the blessings and the price of freedom.

Larry, it amazes me that you agonize over pianos, struggle over doing the work of three people, have time to bs on the computer for pages, think you understand the world, are quick to say nasty things to every one except those with your world view. A nasty mouth and small mind are rarely indicitive of people of either import or wisdom, (not to mention education). I am sure there are things I don't understand about your great knowledge. It would be helpful if you could illucidate.

And by the way, I do acknowledge thinking you are a fool with a very, very, big mouth, no life, and tragically small brain.

My, my. And you claim to be a psychotherapist. If you in fact *are* a psychotherapist, you are a very poor one. Your training should have equipped you better for battle in a debate than it apparently has.

I feel no need to justify the size of my brain to you, nor do I feel any great need to provide evidence to you that I have a life. I have no insecurities in this regard, so much so that I laugh in your face.

But I *will* debate you in the style in which you prefer. You are insignificant, a mere speck of fly dung on the rearend of humanity. Are you incapable of turning your training as a psychotherapist on me and making it work to your advantage? When faced with patients you deem to be out of touch with reality, do you use the same communication skills you have shown here to steer their minds? Are you the utter failure at your chosen profession that your participation here would indicate?

How do you feel about these things, Tony?

Obviously Tony's phallic stage of development had no successful resolution with an identification of a strong father figure assuming an active and aggressive social role in our male-dominated society, resulting in his psychological castration.

I stayed in a Holiday Inn last night. \:D

And I assume Tony's psychoanalytical analysis of Saddam is that the poor soul is a victim of his tortured childhood, merely representing a cry for attention resulting from the years of neglect, verbal abuse, and inattainable reputation on par with that of Adolf Hitler...those protestors are simply an extension of his psyche...helping to free the poor victim from the constraints placed by the evil right-wing democracy...Tony I'll call in a prescription for Valium if you'd like! \:D
