OMG, a non-political thread. You think anyone will look? :p I really really want a George Foreman grill (which size should I get?) and I love paninni(s). Can you use it to make them? Jodi

I have one. It was a gift to me... Strangely given to me by a friend who is chef (just watching her prep is amazing). I don't use it that often (a time thing for me), but when I do it's always done right by me. As noted in another (political) thread, I used mine this evening. I vote you get it. (uh, maybe I could've put that differently ) N.

Oooh, JBryan, you're so cute when you google. Thanks netizen and Eldon - I'll do it up. Steve - a paninni is sort of a glorified grilled whatever and cheese - you put all sorts of stuff between two pieces of nice crusty bread (like goat cheese, grilled eggplant, calamata olives, roasted red peppers, garlic aioli (sp?) sauce, avacado, red onions, pepperocini, and cooked chicken, and then you slap them into something that looks like a waffle iron and cook them them up. I order them at the local deli. They cost a fortune, and I'd like to try to make them myself. Jodi

Jodi, why not check out panini grills on Amazon ? This one was rated pretty well, and there are other units made by Krups, DeLonghi, Cuisinart and others. I think you might not get very good results with the Foreman grill because of the lower grill surface's slope and the angle at which the upper grill surface comes down. These two factors could lead to panini that are much thinner on one side and possibly force the contents out of the sandwich. You can always make a panino yourself in a cast iron skillet. You just won't get the cool grooves from the grill!
