(no google please) BTW, for the big crowd out there who thinks layla is a guitar masterpeice and witness to eric claptons virtuoisity...the slide in the peice, both the fast first part and the second slow part, is played by duane allman, check the credits. the slide in "while my guitar gently weeps" is not played by george harrison, its played by eric clapton, who was inspired at the feet of the great duane allman, probably the best slide guitarist who ever lived.

Wasn't Elizabeth Reed a friend of one of the band? I seem to remember reading who she was but can't remember. I'm wrong.

My source is my memory of reading an interview with Duane Allmann that was printed in Rolling Stone (back when it looked like a tabloid). In it, he said that his favorite slide item was one of those little individual glass bottles of cream you used to get in restaurants when you ordered coffee. Remember them?
