In my changer at home,
Trooper - Hot Shots (best of) (excellent 70's Canadian rock) Chick Corea - A compilation album of old solo stuff on the Priceless Jazz Label Kieth Jarrett - See Chick Corea Vanessa Carlton - (can't remember the album's name, but features the hit A Thousand Miles) Best of the Doors Best of Fleetwood Mac Jeff Johnston - The Field (solo jazz piano, Canadian artist) Diana Krall - When I look in Your Eyes. Rawlin's Cross - Instrumentals - A local Celtic Rock band of great renown in Canada - A blend of Irish/Scottish traditional instruments in a modern style - excellent! and, A CD of various Latin pop & merengue music we just bought in the DR after spending a week frying on an all inclusive in Puerto Plata.
That's it, I think - Quite a mix!
At work, right now I'm playing a compilation CD I just bought of Yes's Greatest hits.

Aside from the raucous road stories about the band tour he had nothing but praise for the musicality and keyboard brillance of Commander Cody.

I usually listen to songs composed by Kanno Yoko. Tanaka Rie is my favorite singer...right now I'm listening to Zankokuna Tenchi No Teze (Cruel Angel's Thesis), which happens to be composed by Kanno. ...I probably should have just said I was listening to Chopin or something. Oh, well.

Actually, at this very moment, I am listening to a recording of myself singing Mozart's "recordare" from the the Requiem from our last concert ( I'm the alto that gets to start that AMAZING section). Kind of random, huh?

Hold on, I think someone said "Eminem", and "Picasso" in the same sentence.
Word.... you got me straight trippin boo....
Jolly: LOL
Gryphon: We've been here before, and Billy Cobham rules me.
Right now I'm listening to Neil Peart pound out the Rhythm Method, but shortly I will be driving around to the sounds of Mahavishnu Orchestra with Billy Cobham and his ambidextrous ways.
I think I mentioned this all in the piano forum before, but what the heck, some of my favorite music:
Transendental Etudes Chopin Etudes/Preludes (Evgeny Kissin, and Bodini) Rach, Bach, and Bartok (sorry, sounded better than it looks) I enjoy listening to any good piano performer (classical, no rag time please).
What's usually in my car? Not relaxing music... nooooooo must.... drive..... agressively!
Rush, Rush, and more Rush Police Talking Heads Radiohead fIREHOSE (great band btw) Steely Dan Pretty much anything with remarkable drumming in it.
Let's not forget the Cars .... and other fine 80's music
Of course aside from the Police and Rush, any solo projects that Neil Peart, or Stewart Copeland have done are also key (Oysterhead)
All in all I guess my tastes are pretty eclectic. Hope I haven't caused anyone to lose faith or respect in me.

KB, you like drummers? I've got some awesome Tony Williams, too. I've seen Carl Palmer and Bill Bruford, both of whom blew me away. Also Chester Thompson (who by the way also plays some mean keyboards as well). Your mention of Mahavishnu Orchestra brings back a lot of memories. I've been listening to them, Shakti, and various incarnations of John McLaughlin's musical pairings since Birds of Fire, when I was in high school in the early 70's. In MO's music McLaughlin will call out sections like: improvise for 32 measures based on your birth: Virgo, Dorian mode, Gemini, Lydian mode, etc.

Two drummers walk into a bar... which is funny because you would have figured the second one would have seen the first guy do it. What do Ginger Baker and 7-11 coffee have in common? They both suck without Cream. A drummer, tired from being ridiculed by his peers, decides to learn how to play some "real" musical instruments. He goes to a music store, walks in, approaches the store clerk, and says "I'll take that red trumpet over there and that accordian." The store clerk looks at him a bit funny, and replies "OK, you can have the fire extinguisher but the radiator's got to stay". A guy walks into a shop. "You got one of them Marshall Hiwatt AC30 amplificatior thingies and a Gobson StratoBlaster geetar with a Fried Rose tremulo?" "You're a drummer, aren't you?" "Duh, yeah. How'd you know?" "This is a travel agency." What is the difference between a chiropodist and Ginger Baker? A chiropodist bucks up your feet! How many drummers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Five: one to screw in the light bulb and four to talk about how much better Neil Peart would have done it! Why do guitarists put drumsticks on the dash of their car? So they can park in the handicapped spot. How is a drum solo like a sneeze? You can tell it's coming, but you can't do anything about it. What does the average drummer get on an IQ test? Drool.
