Gryphon, what is that Chillout piece? Interesting, but it just goes on forever and becomes - sort of, um - background noise. Is there a name for that style other than - um - background noise?

What, you didn't listen to the whole thing? It's one of my favorite CDs. Perfect road music for driving across country in the middle of the night. If you heard it in its entirety you'd see why.

So, what is it? Is Chill Out the album or the group? And, I'm still curious how you'd classify it.

The song kind of reminds me of college. One of our favorite dorm songs was Revolution Number Nine by the Beatles off of their White Album. Whe used to farm the songs for "expressions," such as "Goun-da," which we used for YES! or GREAT! As in "Goun-da! I aced the test."

Danny Gatton Anthology

Not only great jazz, blues & rockabilly guitar work- Gatton was truly an amazing guitarist and verstatile musician- but also superb Hammond B3 Keyboards with Joey Francesco and others.

This guy just casts a spell on me. Smooth Brazilian music with all the elements of South American tradition and innovation wrapped together.

The definitive (in my humble opinion) Chopinist. Her account of the Nocturne in e minor, Op. 72 No. 1 is the finest I've ever heard. If you go to Amazon and do a search you'll come across a review of this CD written by a friend of mine -- he is better at descriptions than I am. Anyway, she really deserves wider recognition.

kathyk, does it say who the painter of the cover art is on that album? I LOVE it.

Has something of a Gaugin feel about it, but I expect it is Diego Rivera. I endorse kathy with a k's selection. Cool music.

I do love that cover painting! Bernard, JF is correct, it is Diego Rivera. Better look out, someone will be labelling you a commy showing appreciation for Diego's art. On a sidenote, when we were doing college tours this fall, during the Yale tour we saw this huge stained glass window in the cathedral-like library which was designed by Diego. The guide pointed out an ever so tiny hammer and sickle in one corner of the piece. He got his little dig in! BTW, see the movie, Frieda if you haven't already!
