According to the www.cnn.com headlines, John Ashcroft and Don Evans have resigned. I wonder if this will be put into effect now, or when Bush starts his new term?

Not now. Ashcroft tendered his resignation last week, for example. I think it'll become effective when his replacement is chosen.

One down, one to go.

(I've never liked Ashcroft, and I want Rumsfeld gone, too!)

The Democrats in Missouri were quite elated when Carnahan's wife was appointed in her husband's place and Ashcroft, who had been winning prior to the crash and who didn't contest the illegal appointment, lost. What's that about being careful what you wish for? laugh

John McCain, on Leno last week, recommended Joe Lieberman for Attorney General. Like that will ever happen. He did say that he hadn't mentioned it to the President yet.

There are rumors that Bush is going to appoint a Democrat to the Cabinet, though. Exactly where can you put Zell Miller?

Zell's not going.

My prediction for AJ is Rudy.

Giuliani I can deal with. But can the Biblicists who now think they run the GOP accept a moderate republican who supports the right to choose and gay unions?

The AG was the bone thrown to them in 2000 and is perhaps the most important position in terms of the Biblicists desire to impose their morality on the majority of the country. No other position can influence such issues like the AG. I doubt the Biblicists are going to be happy with anyone other than one of their own, again.

John, if you can't write a post without injecting a disgusting dig every other sentence, just shut up. Geez, I'm getting sick of you.

Are you gonna answer the question, Larry?

Or would you rather dodge it and attack JA once again?

But can the Biblicists who now think they run the GOP....?

This is the only question I see. A nasty crack made at Christians by a shallow man who hides behind a fake claim of being one himself while in reality despising them. When John starts his questions off with this kind of crap, and he *Always* does - he isn't worth answering. I'm sick of his snide swipes and dishonest engagement. When he phrases the question in a manner worth responding, I will respond. Until that time I will tell him exactly what I think of his methods.

That is not a dodge, and it isn't an attack. It's a come to Jesus meeting - it's time for John to drop the slimeball tactics and discuss things in a proper manner instead of always spewing this same old **** every time he posts. Most people are trying to move on passed the political mean spiritedness. John needs to as well.

No one wants gay unions. I think the referendums in the last election made that pretty clear. The voice of the people has spoken loud and strong and it's up the magistrates to obey. smile

What's wrong with that?

I dont support anyone who is pro-abortion.

I dont support anyone who wants federal and/or special recognition of any relationship other than a man + woman.

Sometimes it comes down to picking the best candidate, realistically. I dont agree with everything Bush stands for, but he is by far the candidate closest to my beliefs that actually has a chance at winning.

I do support Larry's position on not answering a looney and liberal looney.

I agree with Larry & The 89h Key. To the victors belong the spoils. It's up to Bush to satisfy the demographic(s) that got him elected. If that is primarily Christians, or other people of religion, than so be it. I'm sick of listening to people who cant take the fact that their liberalism was soundly defeated by the American electorate. This is a conservative country. Deal with it.

P.S. NO on Arlen Specter as Judiciary Chair!!!!

With regard to Giuliani for AG:

"Former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York City was mentioned by some as a possible successor, but his spokeswoman, Sunny Mindel, said Tuesday night that he was not interested in the job."

If Kerry won the AG would be some guy to the left of Michael Moore.

Heck, it might be Michael Moore.

His efforts would deserve some compensation, you know.
