In case you missed it, Nipon Gaki and roflcopter have posted some *very* objectionable filth on the PF. Frank doesn't have time to keep up with this kind of stuff, and he's got enough on his hands already. Someone who is willing to be tolerant enough to not strangle the forums by "over moderating" but able to sniff out trouble early to put a stop to it needs to help.

Just a suggestion. But Frank is going to have a cow when he sees it, I don't blame him, and he's liable to get so mad he does something rash. Can't blame him there either, but I think there's a better way.

Trolling is one behaviour, but deliberate and malicious stalking is quite another. This, unfortunately, is the latter. It is unacceptable under any circumstance. Use whatever means deemed expedient to stop it.

Yeah, I agree. It's gotten to the point where someone needs to step in, otherwise we run the risk of the place being shut down for good.
Larry gets my vote as well.

I just don't want to see it where you have to get permission to post. That will kill it, in my opinion. My idea is just to have someone who is here frequently who can watch for this stuff and then remove it without bothering Frank, not act as lord and master over every post that goes up. I'm not talking about a case where all the posts have to come to a moderator first and then go up only after it has been screened, just someone else in addition to Frank who has the ability to delete filth and block those who are guilty of it. Maybe the answer is to give that capability to several different people.

Seems like a good idea - maybe a couple of people in case some have a problem with the choice of one.

Yes I think a few individuals would is also a good idea. If I understand everyone correctly, the idea is delete and block posts that contain excessively foul language, sexual & sensationally violent imagery. It is not however to censure political, religious or social morality views. If so, the best method is to reach a consensus and establish clear guidelines by which a "Forum Concierge" can decide and act.

Most obnoxious posts are written by trolls and sockpuppets. If they'd get banned, a lot of troubles could be avoided.
IMO a temporary banning (e.g. for 1 month) would be the best solution: Not think about it for too long; just let Larry do it.

When it comes to showing a lack of respect for others, Larry is one of the worst offenders here. I vote no to Larry being a moderator. (For heavens sake the word "moderator" contains the root "moderate" and Larry is anything but and you all know it.)

You are correct Renauda, my idea is not to censor what people talke about, or restrict *how* they talk about it. I like things just like they are - except when someone is obviously stalking another, purposely posting hate posts designed to harm, or when they post filth, either written or visual. Even then, I'm talking about obvious filth, not walking the edge sort of stuff some of us have done. No one would even notice except for the kind of stuff that happened today.

We're all rational, decent human beings, and we are aware of the kinds of things I'm talking about. All I'm suggesting is that Frank have an extra few pairs of hands so that stuff like this gets taken down quicker.
