Or "Calling Ralph&Earl" whatever your euphamism is, for hanging your head in a toilet.

This is the reason I never competed with apple:

The Pixel People

Harnessed lightning flashes, pixels come to life,
Ghostly illusions of never-met friends, and foes.
Candid and passionate discussions of everyday strife,
That sometimes reveal more than one wants to know.

Words that flow on a fiber spider’s thin web,
Bouncing through the ether, with thoughts in tow.
And just like the tide with its flow and its ebb,
The pixel people wash in, and then away they go.

Were they ever here? Could they be real?
They must be, for their written thoughts remain
Etched in a corner of my conscience, and feel
Like the loss a friend, never to be seen again.

Is that the sound of a commode flushing I hear? wink

you didn't want me to get an inferiority complex did you sweetheart..

I'll add that to your Jollyisms which, if you wish I can send you by email to a valid mailbox. I got them in a fancy Microsoft Word document.

Jolly... you really got the short end of the shaft from your detractors and those who lemminglishly followed them... You and I (us of the 10,000 posts) both know what brought this forum down..

hope to see you at one of the forums.. it's been jolly and I will miss you among the most.

with love, your friend apple.

Very nice, Jolly. You should post your poetry more often.

I thought that was an apple original and quite good at that. Now that I see that it's Jolly, I'm doubly impressed.

Jolly may have a reputation as a bit of a gruff and blunt personality around here and I must admit I found him a bit intimidating when I first came here, but I followed more of his links than perhaps those of anyone else. The thing I gathered from doing that was that he was probably the best-read poster here. I found many of the links thought-provoking. Aside from his record level of posting, I could hardly imagine how he managed his time so well to read so much.

And Jolly would never guess how many times after reading a link or a post of his that I agreed. He once asked me, "What are you smoking?" T'weren't nothin' but a peace pipe.

I didn't spend much time talking politics. Or religion. Or many of the other controversial topics. But I found plenty of Jolly's views I could agree with. But even when I did not, I still respected him because I knew that he'd thought each issue through and that if we came to a different conclusion, it was just perhaps the slight subjective difference of our perspective viewing the bubble in the level and making the call and that he could well be right on more careful measurement. I respect a man who has principles and sticks to them consistently. I don't think the whole world has to agree with me. I don't know enough to be right that often. But I know enough to respect Jolly.

BCarey - I think Jolly's "this is the reason.." line is a humble indication of authorship.

It's a keeper Jolly - off to my CR archives. I honestly would have welcomed (still would) an unpixelated confrontation with you - that is if you promised not to shoot me and leave me in the ditch. cool

You've been a formidable foe, but you are one heck of a constant guy. I admire you for that.

Jolly,

Before, we all leave this place, I just want to say something to you.

We (you and I) are far apart on many issues, but I have always felt that I could get my point across to you, whether by sincere words, teases, or even sarcasm, without you coming back with a personal attack. You always had a way of attacking my words, not me. I always appreciated that. smile

Just for old time sake, one last tease just for you. :p

That's the important point. Attacking the words or the idea, not the person. And I wanted Jolly to know it did not go unnoticed nor unappreciated. You got it in a few words where I took too many.

Doggerel, ma'am. Papersack doggerel.

Which is why I stick to my day job.

I mentioned the other day some of the folks I thought were the smartest people to ever inhabit this list...I should have added Chick. It was an act of omission.

Yes, it has been an experience, hasn't it...shift gears Jolly, you're rambling...must be the dust in the air...makes it a bit hard to see sometimes...oh well...

Maudlin, I'm not. Mischievous, I am...so I'll tweak your collective noses once more before I saunter off into the cyber-sunset....many of you often wondered what I did for a living (besides mop floors).

I told someone.

On this board.

This week.

And swore them to secrecy.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! laugh :p laugh :p

Jolly, I was always under the impression that you worked in SOME capacity at an Emergency Room.

Wide range there, of course, from Doctor to Corpse, to inventory control.

( I'm leaving "siren" for Apple, Plays, Cindy, or any of the other pwBabes. )

Jolly - The poem is nice touch. I learned more from the people I disagreed with, than those who thought as I did. (Not what you wanted to teach, perhaps, but I still learned more. smile ) Nice knowing you. Best - Jeffrey
