I have always believed that music is basically about communication, generosity and humanity.
Thank you to all the people who have made Brad's new piano possible (as listed by William above) for confirming that I wasn't wrong \:\) .

Hey, just got back from one of my favorite jazz clubs and was motivated to send another little bit for our budding virtuoso. Actually, it was more beer or more for Brad's axe. I didn't need any more beer! See you at Baker's Brad!!

Hey everyone...have another drink!

It's Friday night!

We are somewhere in the neighborhood of $650. Can we make $1000? Any surplus to assist the next victim, and Tony's generous offer...?

I'm watchin' the Paypal....

I received three checks in the mail today -- one for $10, one for $25, and one for $50. This brings the total collected to $617.94, not including my $50 (to be added once it comes out of Paypal). So the total is $667.94. I am advised that this is very close to what it will take to get the piano to Brad's house, maybe a little bit extra.

I will keep you all posted as I learn things, as I am sure Sally and Tony and others will, as well.

A very good (almost) ending to this story. I feel very proud to be even a small part of this thing. Nice work, folks!

Come on Michael, this is your first post on this thread and your asking for a 210 C.bechstein???
Why don't you just put in your $50.00 toward getting Brad a Hailun? You'll feel good about it.

I'm looking forward to the update -and PICTURES.

What a great thread and program that is unfolding here. Finally a bright light on the dark world we are presently enduring. Where is the contribution info posted?

I would just like to tell everyone that I really appreciate this, and that I am very grateful. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

For funding my future education in Pianos. I think she found a piano mover, looks like we're just waiting for a open date for them to deliver. She hasn't called and told me anything yet but sure she will as soon as she hears anymore news.

Once again, Thank you to all and that im really happy there is people that would do this for me.

Here is an update folks!!!!

I am going to Keyboard Carriage on Wednesday to pre prep the piano. I am arranging with the movers to deliver the first of next week. - probably Tuesday the 30th..

Lauren Wallace from Hailun and I will go down with the movers and I will fine tune and make sure everything is ok.

I am just waiting for confirmation of these arrangements. I will let everyone know when I get all the details nailed down.

Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Thanks for the kind words, folks, but I don't really belong in the same sentence as people like Tony and Sally, who have really given of themselves here. All I did was collect money. As a lawyer, that is the one thing I do enjoy. \:\)

The funds have now been forwarded to the shipper to cover the moving costs. I will be out of pocket a bit over the next couple of days, but will check in when I can, and will report back to the contributors when this is done. I was thinking I would send Brad a list of those who donated (names, not amounts), for his own information...unless someone objects.

Here's to the music -clink-

UPDATE!!!!

Just got back from Elizabethtown and a very nice visit with Brad's new piano. I tuned it and did all the prep that I could do there. Everything looks fine for the delivery.

It was a nice little trip across the beautiful Bluegrass Parkway on a lovely fall day. I also had a great visit with the Keyboard Carriage folks who were really helpful about getting the piano out so that I could tune. A big thanks to Keyboard Carriage staff for their help!!!!!

We can start the countdown now. 5 Days and counting.........to delivery!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to say though I initially started the ball rolling you have to give credit where credits due. Sally took the handoff and ran with it. After talking to the Hailun folks, they were just as excited as everybody else in making this generous gesture. Says alot about a manufacture. They are one co. which are very supportive of their dealers like the old days, willing to go outside the call of duty to make it happen. So if you're piano shopping, you should definitely check them out at a dealer near you. You'd be surprised how good they are.I'm as picky as they come in that we do high end manufactures but as for value it's a no brainer.

Pianobroker: You are absolutely right that you were the first one with an offer of a major contribution for this (I believe it was a Kawai piano fully prepped and tuned). Most generous. I'm sure it was overlooked in the past few posts unintentionally but you surely should be commended for playing a major role in all of this.

Internet posting is funny.
I do not get the impression that Pb was seeking accolades (albeit he deserves them) but instead commending Sally Phillips and Hailun piano company.
Personally, I am amazed at the outcome of this thread; BradKy getting a new piano, tuned, and delivered. I would like to see something like this become a regular thing on Piano World. I started a thread inspired by BradKY about five (forum) pages ago called "Piano Bank" (which to my chagrin recieved not a single reply) sugggesting some way to provide pianos to those who desire but can not afford them. Not that we can expect piano companys to be giving away new pianos left and right (I think that Brad is very fortunate to be the first lucky kid to be bestowed a piano by Piano World Forum members), but somehow to assist other kids like Brad help in finding reasonable and playable pianos.
I truly hope that when Brad gets his piano there will be a multiplied interest in doing this again for another worthy recipient.

Mike

I would like to say Thanks to everyone again. And Sally thinks the bluegrass is beautiful in the fall, Shes up for a treat in the Mountains! However, most of the leaves have fallen look very nice on the road and on the ground. Thanks Everyone! I can't wait to start playing! I have learned a few small songs at the moment, but I still need to get reading music down, and using the pedals. Thanks Everyone! I'm so happy and can't wait.

Brad, while you are anxiously awaiting your new piano, how about you tell us a little more about yourself?

That is if you are comfortable doing so.

And have you started collecting some music books?

Have you joined the Adult Beginner's Forum here? They'll be very helpful. You can read all kinds of posts from them in the SEARCH feature above. They are not all beginners and not all adults!

We are also anxiously awaiting your pianos too!

I guess you could say somethings about me is, I love Antiques, Simple things, Computers, and Just find Piano music so relaxing and beautiful. I'm 16 and just recently start home schooling. I'm a really relaxed and outgoing person especially when you get to know me, I can't stop talking and can have a conversation with anyone.
