I want to make one. For Christmas dessert. Has anyone ever done this? Can I make those meringue mushrooms a day or two ahead of time? Or will they melt, or wither, or whatever in the pacific northwet climate?

I've got a recipe - I haven't tried it but the picture looks good!

It's a chocolate cake, which you spread choc sauce/icing on and then roll into a log shape. It's really nice, and makes a change from Christmas pudding.

I don't know about meringues. I'd imagine they'd be ok for at least one day.

Yule Log recipe

I don't know what this is like, but the Good Food mag usually do some nice things.

Jodi, I used to line ours with cherry preserves. yum...........

I have my Southern Living recipe somewhere. I'll have to hunt. Since I've been back to work I no longer bake the way I used to.
