Derick's catharsis thread has me pondering my dreams again. The following is one of my dreams, and if I really thought it would make money, I'd seriously consider the necessay steps to make it happen. I can't imagine how such a thing would survive, so if you like the idea you can steal it!
One of my dreams is to own a cafe (in my neighborhood). It would not be too big; it would have sidewalk tables. It would be called "Impromptu".
It would be an artist's cafe and everything would occur in an impromptu fashion:
Poets would suddenly rise from their coffee and recite a poem they've been working on.
Pianists would walk in directly to the piano and offer my patrons a test run of something they've been working on.
There would be a small space to the side where a dancer would suddenly improvise some movement if the spirit moved her/him.
Artists would come in with a painting under their arm and deposit it on one of the several easles around the cafe so my patrons could admire their work while they mangent their croque-monsieur (Ha! Maybe I should move to France regardless the elections). On the way out, the artist would take their painting off the easle so the next artist to come in for tea could show off.
My "Impromptu" cafe would be a real celebration of art and humankind.
Well, like I said, that's one of my dreams.
It beats the heck out of politics!

Bernard,
I would hang out there under two conditions.
1. good food 2. if the servers are artists, I don't want to know about it.
Sounds like a nice dream. I hope you pursue it.

I'll waitress for you Bernard! I'm useless in a kitchen but I've got tons of waiting experience (waiting around for tips mainly  ).
How now, brown cow.

I'll come to your shop Bernard, under one condition. The coffee better be darn good(and I'll be the judge of that!) Oh yeah, and if Lucy is the waitress, please make sure the uniform is sort of on the skimpy side...it'll be good for the business.
