Tonight's menu was quiche with biscuits and salad. This was a bit of a surprise, spaghetti should have been on the menu but the local grocery stores had donated an overabundance of eggs. The other surprise was an older gentleman who came in just as we began to serve. He was a little grubby and was wearing pins and medals on his shirt. A veteran. He took his food over to the piano, set it down and proceeded to play the piano for us. He was amazing. It turns out he was classically trained and played professionally for years. He entertained us for an hour and a half. Who would have expected to be treated to such wonderful music at a soup kitchen?
