I would choose the lyrical version of stars and stripes. I think the piece appropriately fits the country and the lyrics are sufficiently patriotic.

The current anthem is pretty good but the poem it's based off of is too long and the original tune was used for a drinking game. On top of that, it's too hard to sing which I think has something to do with why nowadays we don't sing it in groups, we just listen to someone else sing it.(not sure about that though) and finally normally when it is performed it ends off on a question.

(i realize this thread was posted like thirty years ago.)

it is national anthem i can;t choose easily but it iwas posted nearly 8 years ago right i think they won;t need my choice now.
