Hi, Folks. I trying to host a home recital for a local concert pianist for April 29th--about an hour of music that can be played with or without intermission. The program will be very accessible - nothing too 'out there' - so anyone who enjoys live performances of standard repertoire (Chopin, Brahms, Debussy, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, etc) will enjoy it.
There'll be an "open session" for anyone who wants to perform. It's very informal!
The concert will be on a young Steinway Concert Grand. Some wine/cheese after!
I would like to know if there is any interest in this area! Please let me know so I could get a head count.
Thanks in advance
Douglas

Doug, thanks once again for the invite and sharing this event with PW members. I've had the Brahms Intermezzo and the Chopin Nocturne in Db on my music desk for awhile. It's always such a delight to hear someone play a piece you've been working on and to also hear how it should[/b] be played! PTG... this is a great opporunity for you meet up with some of the local members. I hope it fits into your schedule. Lee... (but see you Sunday at Larry's place )

WOW! What a wonderful evening. I want to thank Doug for being such a gracious host. His lovely home is graced with a room set up just for making music on his S+S D!
The guests in attendance made for a diverse group and facinating conversation.
I hope that in home concerts/gatherings to enjoy piano music become as common as they were 100+ years ago. There is nothing like music in such an intimate setting.
Thank you, Doug!

I’d also like to add one more round of thanks to Doug and also the guest performer Michael Serio. Michael’s interpertation of each piece was so artistically performed. Even the pieces I was unfamiliar with lured me in and held me captivated. I have a special attachment to the Brahms Intermezzo 118/2 and listening to Michael play this piece and his artistic impression gave me goosebumps. His whole performance was beyond "magical". I was hoping more local members would have been in attendance but as always it’s such a pleasure to meet up with Bee and her friend Carol. Other guests in attendance were very gracious to us even after finding out we had met up with Doug via PianoWorld forums! Hopefully, others we met will join us here and celebrate their piano experiences with us. While I was sitting listening to Michael’s performance, I kept thinking of what Del had mentioned during the piano seminar last weekend; in which he remarked, “If you want to experience the ultimate in piano listening pleasure, attend a home performance!” Very sound advise!
