PIANIST LARS VOGT AND VIOLINIST SARAH CHANG TO PERFORM AT NEW YORK’S AVERY
FISHER HALL IN LAST STOP ON THEIR FIRST TOUR TOGETHER

Acclaimed pianist Lars Vogt has returned to the United States in a 9-city duo
recital tour with violinist Sarah Chang – their first tour together. Vogt
and Chang are performing an all-French program including Ravel’s Sonata for
Violin & Piano, Saint-Saëns’s Sonata No. 1 for Violin & Piano, and Franck’s
Sonata for Violin & Piano. Their tour began in Midland, MI on Friday,
February 28, and takes them to Atlanta, San Diego, Berkeley, Philadelphia,
Princeton, College Park (Maryland), Newark, and finally to New York City’s
Avery Fisher Hall on Sunday, March 16.

Date and Time: Sunday, March 16, 2003 at 3:00pm
Location: Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center (65th Street and
Broadway, New York City)
Program: Ravel Sonata, Saint-Saëns Violin Sonata No.1 in D minor,
Franck Sonate in A major

Vogt has won international accolades for his "immaculate technique and an
infallible musical thrust" (L.A. Times). Violinist Sarah Chang is
internationally recognized as one of classical music’s most captivating and
gifted artists. This year, the two young virtuosos join forces in their first
tour together. Following their concerts in North America, Lars Vogt and Sarah
Chang will tour in Europe, and will record the all-French program for EMI.

Last fall Vogt received great acclaim for his solo performances with the
Baltimore Symphony and for his solo debuts with the Cincinnati Symphony and
St. Paul Chamber orchestras. The Cincinnati Post wrote, "Vogt swept up the
audience with his poetry and pizzazz," and the Cincinnati Enquirer commented,
"[Vogt’s] pianism was fresh and utterly convincing…He breathed life into
each phrase with an ear for sonority and color."

This pianist is relatively unknown to many. His Schubert sonatas recordings can compete with any other great recordings that most of us are familiar with. AndrewG
