Fou's complete Chopin Mazurkas under Sony is one of the best recordings in my collection. I also recommend his complete Chopin Nocturnes under the same label. Both are budget sets with masterful performances. As a matter of fact Fou astounded the judges as well as record company art directors so much that Czech label Supraphone signed on him to record all 8 Mazurkas he played in the competition first round even before the final round got started. In those days of the Warsaw Chopin Competitions all competitors were required to play 8 Mazurkas. (I'm not sure of the requirements nowadays.) Fou placed third in the 1955 competition where V. Ashkenazy placed 2nd.
