Another fantastic weekend celebrating both the history of Franz Schubert by Hennie Bordwin
and his music by pianist Dmitry Rachmanov was presented by Pat and Mike Frederick in Ashburnham, MA.
Hennie provided us with an overview of the magnificent city of Vienna where Schubert lived for the 30 short years before his death and spent time covering some of the disbeliefs that have been written about Schubert.

It was a special treat for me to be escorted to this concert by the youngest of my three daughters; Rachel. I was able to coax Rachel into joining me for this event primarily due to obligations children feel the need to extend on a parent’s birthday. I took full advantage of the situation and my daughter came away quite impressed after listening to the phenomenal talents of Dmitry Rachmanov.
John Citron and his long-time teacher and good friend Virginia also joined us for this event. I was unable to make it back for Part II of the weekend Schubert celebration but I know John was considering venturing back.
The piano selected from the Frederick collection is a newer member to the group.
I believe Pat mentioned it was circa 1830 or so and would have been close to Schubert‘s time period.
Dmitry graciously allowed me to capture a few pics of him at the piano after the concert.

I let him know I was planning to post a few pics to share with other members on our piano forum. He asked if I had a card so he could later check the website. (Frank!!!! Anytime you want to send a few business cards my way!!)
Thanks, once again, to Pat and Mike Frederick for sponsoring the spirng concert series and for allowing this wonderful opportunity. And thank you, Dimitry for sharing your accomplished musical talents. It was such a delight to have been in attendance.
Oh, and one last pic. John couldn't wait to have his turn at the piano! As always, John, 'twas a pleasure meeting up with you for this musical event.
