From October 25th through December 14th, 2002, The Rock Hotel Pianofest will revitalize the piano recital with a barrage of performances by legends of today and up and coming greats of tomorrow. Major debuts, appearances by major artists long absent from the New York stages, and performances by many extra-ordinary pianists currently performing internationally will be presented in venues both traditional and unfamiliar.
The Pianofest is produced by the Rock Hotel Impresario Chris Williamson in association with Jon Aaron acting as VP of management, and VisionIntoArt. Williamson, known for his blitzkrieg style of promotion in the rock and pop world, will employ similar methods in promoting the Pianofest. He has successfully promoted such "classical" artists as Philip Glass, John Tavener, Helene Grimaud and the Eroica Trio, leading to sold out concert halls and significant career enhancement for these artists.
Pianists will include: Earl Wild, Natasha Paremski, Boris Berezovsky, Toradze Studio,Lukas Vondracek, Jerome Lowenthal, Jean Yves Thibaudet, Diane Walsh, Andrew Rangell, Cristina Ortiz, Russell Sherman, Sergei Schepkin, Konstantin Lifshitz, Berenika Zakrzewska, Naida Cole, Frederic Chiu, Amy Dissanayake, Philip Glass, Dennis Russell Davies, Christopher Taylor, Roger Woodward, Oxana Yablonskaya, Ursula Oppens & Frederic Rzewski, Sergei Babayan, Dubravka Tomsic, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Speranza Scappucci, & Stephen Gosling, with many more emerging pianists.
