A friend of mine (who doesnt play piano) just had an accident at his work, now he misses the top part of his finger....He isn't too sad about it, but i would be devastated. So that brought me to think about how far would you go to keep your finger?

I would give up a toe without hesitation, also 2 or 3.
I think I would even rather loose a foot than to loose a finger....

where would you draw the line?

I`d see your foot and maybe even raise you a leg. If it was below the knee then I wouldn`t even hesitate.

what about an eye and a toe?

I`d chop toes off all day but the eye, well..I`m not sure. I`ll offer a testicle and a front tooth instead :-)

Call me a misguided perv, but I'd rather lose a pinky than a ball.

I'd have to think twice about giving up a pinky for another inch.

Maybe that was Django's faustian gig.

I'd cut my finger off, keep it on ice, rush to the hospital, get it sewn back on, and play some piano.

I'd give up anything, I think. My hands are already small enough, and losing even a few centimeters would make me and the piano KAPUT.

I wouldn't want to lose an eye, I'm not THAT GOOD yet.

My hands are so tiny, I probably won't fare well in classical, but I would definately give up my toes.

That gal does give you a bit of hope.
In addition to piano, I am a computer programmer, and type all day long. Loosing a finger would be devestating.

Oddly, I have found myself praying more than once that i don't.

That said, I would not give up, and it would not be the end of the world. Just a really annoying, but temporary setback.

I lost about a quarter of an inch of my left ring finger when I was five years old in a bicycle accident that was my own dumb fault. Its had only a minor affect on my playing, thankfully.

I think I'd rather not think about losing any more body parts.
