The funniest thing I ever saw was an afghan hound trying to do agility; halfway through the course it had a blonde moment and forgot to finish the rest of the course.

BTW the GSD (German Shepherd Dog) is pegged down just right. Mia (the GSD diva dog that has ahold of the earth) concurrs.

I did a save as and kept that cat picture; reminds me of the creatures in some of Stephen King's books.

I like your own weapon of mass destruction. I have my own cross breed- German shepherd/ ridgeback with a pinch of dingo. He is.. um about a year old now and in the last five months has destroyed my gardening gloves, my garden, my carpet, my door frames, my shoes, my friends shoes, my friends door (he ripped it off it's hinges), his lead and a bunch of other stuff... those were just the most noticeable!

Can your dog dig a good trench? Our backyard sometimes looks like a battle zone. And give her enough rope, she'll destroy just about anything that can be destroyed. She has an affinity for expensive things. LOL. She is destroying fewer things as she is maturing (and all her adult teeth are in now so she has less "destroy drive" now but I don't trust her alone with anything valuable and tempting).

The challenge is to keep working dogs like Mia tired and busy/active. A bored GSD with nothing to do will find something to do in short order, usually that something involves destruction of some kind. A tired Shepherd is much easier to live with. Mia is quite a firecracker. And she has so much energy she can run all day and not get tired (oh, lucky me). I plan to take her to herding classes when the weather gets better.

But it was a bloodhound that killed my new DVD player's remote control (2 weeks after I got the dvd player for Christmas). She was fully house trained and about 7-8 yrs old ... and never destroyed anything until the day we took another dog to a dog show, and left her at home (she gave me that "look" as we pulled out of the driveway).

She got jealous when she was left at home alone (was just retired from her show career). Nowadays anytime we leave the house to go somewhere we make sure to hide the remotes. We also were more careful to not use the words "dog show" in her presence.

Performing Yak.... invest in a good crate and learn about crate training if you haven't already.
Crate training can save dogs lives when you are not around to watch the dog and keep him from eating things that can kill him/her. Young dogs need to chew, so get an indestructable kong type toy or two if you don't have any yet.

Thanks for the compliments on Mia. She is turning out lovely; her brain needs to mature though.
At times she can be a canine cyclone when she is let into the house. Poor cats, they are not happy about being herded around by her.

Afghan Hound: What is a light bulb anyway? And can you tell me if "Chicken of the Sea" is chicken or tuna? I thought it was chicken but don't taste like chicken.

My dog has plenty of indestructible toys which I later found out are not so indestructible after all, he just prefers to chew stuff he shouldn't. I also discovered he can jump, not just a little but REALLY jump. I have to keep him on a chain when I'm not home because he can leap over our 6 foot fence without any trouble from a standing start!

Sounds like Yak has his own WMD. LOL GSD X Ridgeback X Dingo makes quite an interesting mix. Life must not be dull over there where you are at.
Those are three tough breeds that are recommended for experienced owners; you must love a challenge. LOL

OK. OMG this happened today. Just got back from lunch at the local China Buffet. I parked the car in front of a large van that had a large white pit bull dog in it on the front seat.

I came back to see that big old pit bull tearing up the driver seat and the driver's seat belt. Oh Lordy. Hope the dog has an understanding owner. The drivers seat the top of it in shreds and the dog was doing a pretty good job on the seat belt.
The owner of the van won't be happy.

hehehehe.
Life is definitely not dull where I am, even if it is a mining town in the middle of nowhere (no kidding it's three hours drive to the nearest fast food!!). My dog keeps me on my toes, if he is not destroying stuff I am cleaning up the massive amounts of hair, it should not be possible for a short haired dog to shed so much!!!
I get rid of him soon to boarding when I go to Hawaii, I think I shall have to get him some new toys before then smile

Yes. Spoil him with some tuff toys.
He will likely miss you.

Just don't say the name "Hawaii" around him if you have any chewable remote controls laying around. LOL

I just can't stop thinking about that van seat getting shredded up. The head rest was completely gone.

Hopefully the pit bull dog I saw today eating up his owners car seat has a loving and forgiving owner. 1/3 of the seat was in nagaua and spongy foam pieces.
