Earlier this year the BBC presenter Ian Burnside introduced a feature on his regular Sunday morning radio programme which in my opinion was never fully exploited. He would invite his weekly guest to nominate a piece (or pieces) of music that they considered worthy of consigning to the infamous Room 101.
Here in the UK, anyone listening to Classic FM for any length of time could soon be brainwashed into believing that every piece of music they play is wonderful and universally liked.
I myself have a sizeable list of Room 101 candidates, ( I include all forms of music, not just that for the piano ), and I am quite prepared to get the ball rolling.

In no particular order:
Anything by Handel; gets a far better press than he deserves, main purpose in life seems to be ingratiating himself with George II.
Ditto Vivaldi; Plus ce change, plus c'est le meme chose.
Bloody Carmen!!!!!!!!!
The harpsichord. (This is a pianist speaking)

Anyone feel like expanding the list??

I don`t like the sound of the harpsichord either, I find it metallic and unsubtle. I`ll put in Clair de Lune as well.

Thanks Fraggle, it seems that we're the only two who don't like everything!!! I'd like to think that everyone out there is in shock over my INITIAL selections.

I would go for 'In Dulci Jubilo' - Mike Oldfield version.

It had to be the song blasting out of Currys as I walked passed today. I sympathise with their staff!

Here's a few more;
On the instrument front, the saxophone & the bagpipes (sorry Euan).

All of Paul Mccartney's so called "classical" works; pretentious claptrap.
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik but only for the constant mis-translation of the title.
Classic FM for showing consistently high standards in the dumbing down and denigrating of great music.
The unholy din that all of Mahlers symphonies seem to become.

Thanks Little-big-man. I thought this post had died the death or Jazz would certainly be up there on my list of consignees.(See previous remarks re saxophone)
Another 2 candidates would be the horrible, spiky music of Britten and Prokofiev.
Whilst I'm on a roll, although I love Mozart, lets get rid of the Flute and Harp Concerto. It surely must have been the biggest mistake of his life!! What a nondescript work.
How about Ravel's Bolero. That should never have been allowed to escape from the film for which it was written.
