Ok...what do you think:

a. John O'Conor
b. Vladimir Ashkenazy
c. Wilhelm Kempff

They all sound pretty good...any recommendations?

Hm...hard to say, they all sound pretty good, indeed! I would go for Kempff or Ashkenazy. They're the only two I've heard of, but then again, I'm not well-versed in the world of listening to professionals play piano. I only play piano myself. I only know these professional players slightly and by name, but when I listen, I like pianists based on what I can see when my eyes are closed and I'm listening.

Good luck and congrats on getting that Box Set! I'm jealous!

Absolutely no contest among the 3 sets you mention. It has to be Kempff. I think there are 2 sets (possibly more) available on DG, the best one being mono recordings from the 50's. A more than acceptable alternative is the set that Barenboim made for EMI in the late 60's/early 70's currently available here in the UK as a 10 disc set at a stupidly low price. Exceptional musicianship from both.
