That's reasonable to want to know - but, can I ask farthest from where?

I live in Los Angeles, a 5-minute drive away from the famous and very lively Hollywood Boulevard.

I live on a half acre in a country setting down a gravel private road amid a large enough city of new home development built in the past 25 years. The deer come through here to feed, and there are a number of them (7 to 10) but never more than 2 at once. We have been here since October 2006, so this is quite a novelty for us. To the South East is Mount Rainier and to the West great sunsets. It is very restful here and quiet and wooded. We had to take 32 trees down due to rot and too close to the house, and lots of debris during our first winter here from very scary windstorms. Today we are bulldozing to flat land for the 2nd time to make way for a workshop garage. While it's a primitive setting, there is a lot to do in building and maintenance. Drive just two blocks out of the neighborhood and it's busy traffic, stop and go, and gridlock.

BruceD,
That is nonsense logic that my father-in-law and husband enjoyed dropping into the consersation - it's supposed to sound profound but it's absurb when you think about it.
Another example would be "I cut it twice and it's still too short!" (woodworking)
I said that because I wondered where we were measuring "farthest" from in the original posting.
I had a neighbor that we used to meet almost nightly in the driveway between our houses to chat with, and he called that place "the center of the universe".
And, when we look from our perch on earth into the sky we are not really looking up, we are looking out there. "Somewhere Out There Beneath the Clear Blue Sky....." (This finally has a little music in it to qualify for the posting.)
I hope you don't think this posting is too flippant but there were many "verbal jokesters" around from the time I married into the family." Puns, limericks, daffy definitions, and nonsense songs.
How are things in Victoria,BC? You are up the road a bit from me.
Betty

I'm not sure how far away it is, but wherever it is, "they" assure me it's my own little world.

I live in paradise, also known as Southern California. And like every paradise, it has it's serpents. But the orange tree in my garden makes up for that. And only forbidden fruit has C vitamin!

I live in Harlan, Kentucky. I live in a 98 year old Farm house, I look out my window, I see a huge mountain on the right, another mountain on the left and a mountain in front of me. Usually after it rains about 8 deer walk out in my front yard to find dinner, at night all I can see is the night sky and hear crickets and the sound of water running off the mountain. I am also 20 minutes from a gas station and town.

I must be the farthest away since I'm in the middle of nowhere. How bout little old Australia. In the middle of nowhere.... Lightning Ridge, get a map of Aus and look for the New South Wales/Queensland border. Got it? right, now put your finger just on the NSW side where it starts to go all wobbly. Thats where I live (approximately) Seriously, the closest town is 40minutes drive (and thats at 130 Kph) and the nearest city is about 3 and a half hours away!

I live near Rice fields, Olive trees, and Kiwi orchards. Somewhere that is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, But beautifull in Spring and Fall.
