Ok, I typed 23 words per minute with 13 errors.

32 words per minute with 5 errors. Although, its much harder to type fast when you have to read off the screen. When it's your own thoughts and words it comes out much faster.

Actually yeah - thats nearly three times faster than i type and i can type pretty fast - either you are lying to us or you are a super human who's magical power is the ability to type at unheard of speeds.

I'm not, I swear! I'm just young! I took "Computer Application" classes in 7th and 8th grade for a semester each, and all we basically did was learn to type fast and with accuracy. I guess it did help in the long run!

I agree with Caroline. It's hard to read something off the screen and type at the same time. Quite awhile ago I used to be a typesetter. I was responsible for entering text for magazine advertisements, coupons, newspaper advertisements, poster, and other boring things. Speed isn't a requirement for this; accuracy is.

Cool test though.

Hey, you're about the same speed as me then. Though with 13 errors i hope the advertisements you used to do were not for ferarri's. Everyone would be down the local garage demanding the £10000 brand new ferarri they saw advertised.

LoL they weren't for Ferarri's...That would be too interesting. These were mostly advertisements for jars of fruit salad, wood stoves, and furniture along with employment advertisements for different companies.

My current job requires data entry, and customer correspondence so I get a lot of practice all day.


My brother has a saying... He can type 180 words per minute. The only thing is 99% of the keys are Backspace!

38 words with seven errors, not too bad when the last time I had a speed test in grade 9 at school, I got 33.

I got 113 wpm with 3 erros. Go me! Yes, I have done many a receptionists job.

My brother does have a great sense of humor and is quite a tease to boot! He went and blew at the hydrometer, I have on my new piano, to raise the humidity, just to see me go into a snit.

He's also famous for repacking mailorder things that come in into broken boxes just to see my reaction. Hehe he's always been like this even when he was a kid.

Oh yeah the job swell... I'd rather type in fruit salad coupons. Hehe... The network admin part is fun. I get to play with different tools, check out broken PCs and help people.

The other part, of the many hats I wear, is really boring. Filling out customer orders on the computer that they send in by fax. I'm getting so I know nearly every person I talk to based on where they call from. I'm also getting to know every part number by heart too. 618910 - Drytech 30" Imagesetting Film... $980 per roll. 625537 - Semi-Gloss finish material...$250 per roll. AGHHH!!!

67 words per minute with 6 errors. I can't type without looking at the keyboard alot, so I was frantically looking up and down during the test!

40 wpm with 2 mistakes. I guess that's not too bad considering I got a D in typing when I was in high school and I type with four fingers.

One of my sons types 120. He plays trumpet, but he would have been a whiz of a pianist. Actually he has been teaching himself hymns on piano and can play about 100 of them, which I struggle with. He was here for a visit and sight read Bach minuets that I took weeks to learn.

88/2. I guess it's just about practice. If we've been tinkling with the keyboard (computer one not piano) for years, we tend to be faster and we don't look at the keyboard to know what we're typing.

Having it halt when hitting a wrong key really annoyed me ! Good thing the piano doesn't quit making sound everytime one hits a wrong key!

I can max at around 80-85 wpm with less than 5 errors. Crusing speed is about 50 wpm with less than 5 errors.

On the piano, max at 12 notes/second in some really fast cadenzas.

I typed about 75wpm - don't type much now so guess around 55wpm.

Never liked typing tests and somehow my fingers don't like them either. Happy that I don't have to worry about them anymore.

I worked with someone who typed around 110wpm no errors with long fingernails. Never did figure out how she was able to accomplish this feat.

82wpm with 1 error. Pretty good since I haven't done any fast typing on a regular basis since college. Now if I could only get my piano playing up to that speed!

I got 68 wpm with 8 errors. That was on the 2nd test, because the first time I tried it I didn't realize it wouldn't let you go on until you corrected an error.

85 words per minute with 2 errors! But admittedly, I took the test twice. The first time around I got 36/22 or something. The lack of a backspace really threw me off the first time around - I usually know that I've typed an error before I see it on the screen, so I reflexively go for the backspace, which in this case only slows things down further.

Well I am a lousy pianist, but I managed 50 wpm with no errors. Remember, back in the "old days" you needed to do 60 or 70 wpm with no errors to get a secretarial job.

It is a fun test, but fairly unrelated to piano playing

My first time through I ended up 37/6. Then I realized that they don't allow backspacing and they screw up the format by only allowing one space between sentences. (There are supposed to be two.)

Anyhow, my retest was 96/1.

And on a mechanical typewriter that you really have to pound on the keys.

75 words, 1 error, third attempt.

The two spaces between sentences dates to the dark ages, Kreisler, when you and I were typing on mechanical typewriters. Nowadays, with wordprocessers that automatically wrap around, most style manuals only want you to put one space between sentences. You can't teach this old dog new tricks, so I still put two.

Just as a point of reference, my sister was a professional technical typist back in the 70's and 80's. She clocked 135 wpm on the standard typing test! She can barely use her wrists these days.
