an Australian sheep farmer was puzzled at the disappearance of sheep on his farm ..... he decided to put up an electric fence and this what he found:

Wow!, I had no idea snakes existed with that large of teeth or fangs or whatever those are. (I don't want to know!) I'm glad the electric fence did the trick and that sheep was the only thing the farmer lost (in other words no family members or friends)!

I think I will stick with the little copperheads, timber rattlesnakes, water moccassins, found around here although fortunately I haven't seen one out and about -hopefully I never will.

Here's a story for you. When we first moved to the area we live now, my husband and I had liked to fish with fly-rods and wading in streams. So we thought we would try some of the streams around here. My husband was a ways from where I was standing in the stream and he yelled that there was something in the water coming my way. I thought he said, "There is a fish headed your way!" I yelled back, "Oh good! Maybe I will catch it!" Finally, he yelled again. Only this time I understood what he was really saying was, "There is a snake headed your way!" Of course I got out of that stream as fast as I could and haven't had too much desire to wade streams around here again.

Great photo, but that fence cannot be electrified.

It is not insulated against the metal fenceposts which are driven into the ground. Even if energized, such a fence would run current directly to ground and not through the snake.

Was browsing through the 'net and found this on snopes.com - more info (and pictures) of said snake....

http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/fencesnake.asp

... and more details are found on the farmer's ranch website....
