6 foot 2 inches with UK size 12 feet, which makes those horrid little curved pedals on turn early 20th century uprights an absolute pain in the bum.

WOW!Rach.... just wow! Well I'm guessing you A) are pretty tall and have normally proportioned hands (B) have huge hands compared to your short body (kinda like that dude in that episode of the simpsons who has a whole speech on his hand) or (C) can dislocate a finger on demand

But you still haven't told us your height. You coudl also be only four feet tall with massive hands..... This image of tiny people with big hands is creeping me out.

I can do C-E (octave+M3rd), but can't do Bb-D (octave+M3rd). What gives?
I have some music I'd like to write that includes things like C(-1)-C0-G2-E3 (octave+double_octave_5th+M6th) in the left hand and C5-E5-G5-G7-C8-E8-G8-G9 (Cmaj_chord,another 2 octaves higher, octave) in the right hand. Any suggestions?

I can play a 9th comfortably, and stretch an eleventh. My hands are small for my size, I am told.

USA--do the long fingers offer you a wider span? Usually this has something to do with the width of the palm-I find larger hand pianists complain to me that they have more difficulty negotiating the little figures in Bach, Mozart and double notes. Octaves, no problem.

I am just beginning to play the piano, so I hope I can get an extra key after a lot of practice. The sad situation at the moment, however, is that I can barely reach C-D :-( How to play piano like that???

As far as I know, it has never been reissued, and it never pops up on anyone's short (or long for that matter) list of great Rach 3's.

6'4'' I can reach a thirteenth c4 to a6
...and I thought that was going to help me play the piano. It's just more noose from which to be hung.

So Bryan, have you had any trouble with the descending octave glissando in the last mvt of Beethoven's Waldstein or near the end of Balakirev's Islamey ascending octave glissando in octaves? I actually play the Waldstein octave glissando as regular octaves--lightly and legato--as long as the action isn't terribly heavy.

168 cm /5'6", can uncomfortably reach a ninth - and the Toyota Yaris is very fine, no trouble minding the head, enough space for knees etc. :p

I'm 5'9". My hands are rather square - some people might even say my fingers appear short. However I can easily span a 10th (as long as both notes are either white keys or black keys). Although I've been making daily progress, I am sure it will be a couple more years before I will encounter that particular problem. When I improvise, I have much fun, however, with octave and tenth glissandi. It's an easy fit, assuming there aren't too many accidentals. To be honest, I just don't understand how one can play glissandi so lightly. I'm a bit of a banger. (the one idiom where this is bad LOL)

I would think you should play lots of Rachmaninoff--the monster chords should fit like a glove--compared to the hands of Alicia deLarrocha, who played the Rach 3! I would enjoy watching you play the Chopin Octave Etude and the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody no. 6--and definitely the octave varioation in the Brahms/Paganini Book 1!

6'9" and I should mention I can play a 12th in a song and reach a 13th.
My problem is that my fingers are wide enough that I have a hard time playing in between the black keys. Any pointers on that?

Pianonoob--yikes--playing 12s in pieces? So learn Rach 3rd Concerto! (I better be careful--I'm only 5'11"--shouldn't get started up with a 6'9" pianist!)
