Well, I have played since I was nine, and now I work a lot with my son. When I signed up I tried to get PianoDad, but that was already taken by someone (who no longer seems to post). Hence Piano*Dad. That's actually better because it separates the two parts of my relationship with music.

My Parents picked my forum name for me.

At the time, I had absolutly no say on the matter.

JosephS. is my name: Joseph Sanchez.

I usually don't use that for internet screen names.

There's Iaelean, which is my AIM name and most of my other message board names. It means nothing and was an act on impulse thing. It came about by putting lots of vowels together.

Ravelez is my newer SN and I use it more so than my other names. It's just a play with Ravel's name.

Some guy at work used to page me over the loud speaker. I go by Joe to everyone, but he always paged me as joseph. However the way he pronounced it it sounds like Josuff and we found it funny. His extention was 247. SO he'd page..."Josuff 247 Josuff 247"

Well, mine is also just my name and surname - really boring. I didn't really think of a nickname when I signed up, just automatically typed in my name. But I'm glad, coz I get confused pretty easily.

I chose the Mona Lisa, coz I'm almost always smiling - not like her, but actually showing my teath. And I couldn't really relate to the other avators available.

In my signature is one of my nicknames - It's actually pronounced "lal-ly".

Interesting posts so far!

Just a nickname my brother and I came up with. He's "Fuzz". No particular reason, we just wanted short nicknames for something like forums. \:\)

I sail and race Hobie 16 catamarans as well as other sailboats. I love fast sailboats almost as much as I love the piano.

Mine is all-too-obvious. When I first began thinking about selling my Grotrian, I created an e-mail account specifically for that. Obviously, I was going for clarity, not imagination! When I began posting here, I didn't expect to be around much, since I'm not expert and serious like most of you (although I liked the chatty forum that was eliminated) ... so I just kept the same handle. Handy if someone is looking for a Grotrian. I don't like it particularly, but I'm too lazy to change it.

Lagin, go up to the top of this page, just to the right of "Piano Forum" you'll see "my profile", click on that, next click on "edit profile," on the next pages scroll down until you see "Profile Fields." About 2/3's of the way down you'll see something like "select a new avatar image." That will take you to the avatar selections. There are several pages, see "next" at bottom. If you see one you like click on it, and then on "select this avatar" to the left of the page.

I used to use this name when login on in online games and other forums.

Good question... why did I choose this name?

Well, probably because I like fun and lol in English stands for "laughing out loud" and in Dutch the word itself already means "fun".

The "_nl" is obvious, I come from The Netherlands, abbreviated NL.

I called myself swingal as swing style jazz incapsulates my general jazz style most. My previous login name was alanjazz but the website suddenly stopped accepting it after quite a long time so had to re-register.

PW is the first and only internet forum I belong to, so when I went to register and it asked me for a login name, it didn't even occur to me to use anything other than my name. (My husband often accuses me of being way too literal, and he is right about that.)

My avatar I chose because my kids are the most important part of my life, so I liked an image that expressed who I was outside of piano. Plus, if you squint a bit, I vaguely resemble the woman in the picture.

Monica, you may laugh at this - I actually thought your avatar was an actual photo of yourself... until I saw someone else with the same one (then I was thinking 'huh?!')!

I also chose my name for my username - it was the first thing which popped into my head! Am looking around and seeing all these other, cool names and am thinking on choosing something else myself. Maybe I could put up a shortlist and get people to vote for their favourite for me. Not sure yet...

I was driving thru Texas with a friend of mine and he asked me to stop by his grandfathers place. It was a large ranch and had a slew (slew as in many) sheep. The were run thru this apparatus with a large pool at the end that was filled with a substance to detox them. I always thought that the name would be well remembered.

me............me........am........c........cr....cra.....cra.....crazy!!!!! me like psycho, me like piano, me a man!!!

I am pretty much out there. I do not like blending in and am attracted to weird people. I always go against the majority and seek to be myself in music, religion, personality, and life in general.

I am always acting weird and saying crazy stuff. People always say I am strange and crazy because of my views on life. People do tend to miss me when I am not around though because I can make any situation a good one and I am always joking and cutting up.

I was recently given the opportunity to go to another department at work for a week so I took it. I came across a guy and asked him if he had ever met a crazy person. He said no and then I told him that I was. You should of seen the look on his face. We have gotten to know each other and debated politics, ethics, and government.

I am crazy but not in a real way. Just crazy about having fun. Most people say I act the way I do because of the music. I am obsessed with it. People think musicians are a little weird.

Do you think this is true about musicians or is this due to a few nut cases like me.

It comes from the ancient game of go where it is a strategic concept. Here is a partial explaination:

"One of the most common amateur mistakes is getting locked into the local fight and continuing to play there when there are larger plays elsewhere."

tenuki means 'to play elsewhere'.

I don't think I explained my avatar. I am always eating chicken. Today I had a huge chicken club pizza.

I like chicken the way bubba gump liked shrimp. You can eat chicken a hundred different ways!!! People at work call me the "chicken man" everytime they see me eating chicken.
