He didn't cook it.

Meat tends to get tougher in the really big lobsters (and they bring much less $ per pound because restaurants don't buy them whole).

He buried it in the ground and let the insects do their work, then dug it up and mounted it on his wall:-)

There's a long story behind this giant lobster, but the short version is, we re-located a long lost trawl (string) of pots. Every trap was full of huge lobsters.

This is because they are cannibals, they eat almost anything, including smaller lobsters.
So... only the biggest, toughest lobsters survived.

When brother-in-law used to do a bit of work in Maine, he'd bring home a few lobsters from time-to-time as carry-on luggage.

Wonder if you can still do that post 9/11?

At least three people out there can vouch for this.

I can. thumb

A finer family and home you will never visit.
And the lobster restaurant was quintessential.
Right on the water amid the boats.
Warm, comfy and unpretentious, just bring your own wine and a fingerbowl. wink

Tom I respect and understand your choice to not meet people here in person.
Being openly gay and outspoken puts me at risk.
Yet I have met several people here in person, on all sides of the political spectrum.
Overcoming my suspicion and fear has rewarded me with a many mind opening and beautiful experiences.

Here, we are just opposing words.
In person we have so much in common.
Also, they have a killer piano.

There is a beauty that comes with relaxing and looking past our differences and connecting in person with people from all sides of all the fences that we make up.
Nuff said.

I know I've seen online where you can order live main lobsters delivered to your door, still live. And instructed to keep in the fridge in wet newspaper until cooking. Seems they are quite resilient. And of course, at the local fish market, I see lobster, clams, crabs, etc on ice that are still alive.

Seems very odd, from keeping saltwater aquariums I've learned keeping marine animals alive is very delicate, yet these morsels seem to survive brutal treatment.

I was born the year Glenn Gould stop playing concerts. Coincidence?

On the subject of Lobsters, here is one about eating 38 of them, 9.76 lbs. Now that is a lot of lobster! I wonder of Sonya ever orders them if she had a choice

Plays, any time you two want to set a lobster date, you are more than welcome. Plan on bedding down for a night, too.

kenny,

I want to thank you for your kind and lovely post. You are a very thoughtful and caring person.

You make me sorry that I'm such a troll.

It's not an easy life living under a bridge.

Again, thanks.

Tom

Tommie, I think you graduated from troll status a long time ago. You pretty much qualify as a "sometimes funny/sometimes annoying/sometimes thoughtful/sometimes maddening" regular now.

wink Jodi
