Enhance? I don't know about that. I once sent my picture to the Lonely Hearts Club, and they returned it, claiming they were not THAT lonely.

As you can see, I don't HAVE an avatar. I would put my picture up here, if that were possible, but I am one ugly customer. It might stop everybody from trying to actually read my posts.

I used to have my own mugshot until some of the friendly forumites said they can't stand it anymore, so now I use someone else's.

Eins,
I thought your mugshot was cool, especially the one of you kind of peeking out at us from out of frame. Bring it back.

I liked Eins's old one. The one where he looked like he was adjusting his web cam.
I first hated Eins's current new one when I thought it was a swimmer in goggles wearing a bathing cap. LOL. But when he explained it was this race car driver from way back when; I realized it was a cool avatar. I actually like his new one better than the old one now. Go figure.
As for my avatar; my German Shepherd (WMD) Mia will have nothing doing of my removing it. Besides it never hurts to have a good watch dog around to keep the cats in check.
I do like the personalized/custom avatars the best; and I do think that once an avatar has been selected by a member and used... it should be retired so that no new member can come along and unknowingly select a an avatar associated with an famous/infamous member.
Maybe this thread will spawn some new custom avatars out there for us to gaxe upon. LOL
Gotta close. Mia needs a long walk.

If I had energy and graphic skills I'd make myself a new avatar, since other people have this eclipse one. But it would NOT be a pic of my goony self.

Once upon a time there was a coffee room where we used to raise a cup or two Remember how we laughed away the hours Think of all the great things we would do. Those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end We'd play and chat for ever and a day We'd live the live we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way We are older now - things didn't go our way

I have to say.... That this thread imo is turning into one of the strangest but very entertaining threads I have seen anywhere. But you folks who are experimenting with new looks better hope that the whole darn avatar program doesn't crash and you end up stuck with one of the avatars most folks hate. I don't think the program has been tested this hard before to my knowlege.
OK. Now pass me some antacid and some migraine medicine to boot. All these flashing and bantering avatars are making me feel sick.
You just never know when the Piano World forumites will come forth with some hilarious or otherwise entertaining thread. I needed a laugh today; thanks to those who have contributed some awfully funny posts on this thread. I was cracking up when the old avatars started coming out.
That baby is darling.

That's Nina!!!!
The connections between these avatars and people are amazing. I have the strangest belief that, when attending some barbecue or the State Fair, nobody will really be able to hear Nina's genius because she's munching those cobs nonstop... Ohh![/b] I thought she was knawing her arm[/b] in terror, such as I've been known to do right before going onstage. Time for new glasses.

I'm stuck with the same one as I didn't want to duplicate one's already taken as well as not having the time and know-how to change it to something outside of the standard choices. Did I mention I hate change. So don't change you're avatars, they're like trademarks! By the way I keep getting addressed as Sara on the forums which is fine as short for sarabande but my real name is not Sara. I picked sarabande because I like the dance-form as in Bach's Suites and I thought it made me sound sweet along with the flower. Tulips are one of my favorite flowers.

Several people have the sama avatar like pianobuilder and kincaid, etc. Are they all related? Clones? Someone with multiple personalities?

Then I have to double check the login name and that's not ergonomically efficient on my brain.)

Ah, but in this case, the inside joke was the avatars.
Sarabande, I share your feeling about inside jokes. It's like walking into a party where everyone is smoking marijuana and laughing at something stupid. Its not fun if you're not high yourself and you don't know what they are talking about.
I'm surprised that Cindy hasn't come back to explain any of this. I was just (gently) yanking her chain by using an avatar from someone she wouldn't want to "emmulate". After awhile, when this thread sinks into oblivion, I'll change back to my old Shakespearean self. Anyway, if you found me where I currently post my avatar is my real self (20 years ago when I was thinner).
I first came here for piano advice and then stayed because of the political (and other) discussions in the old coffee room. When the lot of the coffee room posters were thrown out and the doors closed, many of us left and only came back here for special occasions. I came back because my long piano search was reaching a climax and needed some quick info (which I got, thank you PW!). Then I saw the post on avatars and couldn't help myself. I mean, the joke was just sitting there and I couldn't pass it up.

I forgot all about this thread after my first post! What a funny thread! Well, FWIW, my remarks didn't pertain to Larry. I was thinking of someone whose name escapes me, something like AWF. He/she posted under one of the standard avatars, some young girl or something, and he/she was in constant squabbles here until shown the door. However, I will share a couple of avatar variants I've used. First, there's winter: Then there's summer: With many thanks to Jodi!

[/b] Especially in the Coffee Room, while it was still around here at PW, members became associated with their avatars. After a while, nobody had to look at the names of people posting - just look at the avatar, and you know who it is. So the joke here was when Cindy commented that avatars have sentimental value and are associated with different people, Kincaid changed his avatar to Larry's and said, "Just what are you saying, Cindy?" Then Kenny changed his avatar to Jolly's and then everybody started changing their avatars to those associated with other members. It got really funny when someone was confused with Cindy, because he had changed to her avatar!

Let me just say - as a newbie, consider my head scratched.
I do kind of know what you all are talking about - associating the avatar with the member... I hope to get my avatar up soon.

[/b] Sorry, I'm Southern Baptist. Latin is pretty close to speaking in toungues, isn't it? I've never had a nun rap my knuckles in Latin class......I admit my education is sometimes lacking.....

Boy, it is taking forever for this thread to sink out of sight. I've been waiting for it to do so because I should probably change my avatar back.
(insert foot-tapping noise)
